Severus had anticipated that familiar burn in his arm.Following the pull on his dark mark, the potion professor apparated.
The room was large, elaborate, and empty of anyone else other than Lucius and the Dark Lord himself. Gliding across the marble floor, he swept to his knees a few meters from Voldemort's feet.
"Do you know why I have called you, Severus?" The Dark Lord did not sound happy and any other time it would have filled the spy with dread.
As it was, Severus had planned for this. "I believe I do, My Lord." He answered without looking from his bow of supplication.
After a moment of contemplative silence, Voldemort spoke again. "Rise and report, Severus."
Smoothly rising from his prostrated position, Snape looked up and met the Dark Lord's strong visage. Unlike how'd they remembered him, the face of Lord Voldemort was anything but the hideous snake-like façade. Tall and lean, chiselled chin, defined aristocratic features, silky dark brown hair and creamy brown eyes, the Dark Lord struck a charismatic profile. Only the inner circle of Death Eaters were ever privileged to see his true face.
"You asked about the second Potter child." He started "She left Hogwarts on her first year, as you know. It is said she currently resides in the United States with her adoptive father"
Voldemort actually frowned. "The child left willingly?"
"Yes, My Lord. It seems, Aria Potter— or should I say, Stark, has an unusual fondness for the muggle realm " Severus didn't bother hiding the disgust from his voice or his face.
"Why would she matter anyway? Isn't the boy the one we're targeting?" Hissed Lucius , sharp gaze pinning on Severus.
"There is more to Dumbledore's interest in the Stark girl , my Lord, than there is for the Potter heir" Severus admitted. "The Headmaster has been pushing and compelling Potter to spend time with her from the moment they arrived on the grounds."
Dumbledore was, arguably, an idiot. He knew that he needed a willing sidekick for his champion, an obedient soldier who he could manipulate into place when the time comes. He probably regretted it, since he's the leader of the light, he believed to be doing all of this for the greater good, but for the protection of all wizardkind the prophecy kid and his sister have to be on the chopping block.
So he sends the girl somewhere that she'll be despised and mistreated so that she'll feel grateful to join the wizarding world, whether squib or not. If she never knew kindness, then his favoritism , her parents and her new school friends would make her feel eager to protect the only ones who cared for her. If she was beaten and starved at home, she would be desperate to maintain and defend her safe haven. If she had nothing to her name and no way to provide for herself, then she would be amazed by small kindnesses and be humble in her wants and needs. If she was emotionally and verbally abused and bullied, then she'd be unsurprised by the vitriol and manipulations of the enemy and the press amongst wizards.
