Even at night, New York was noisy

Even at night, New York was noisy.

From traffic horns to pumping music to angry pedestrians. There was a time where Aria found the noise comforting. She'd never done well in the quiet; even when she studied, she preferred to have music or TV or Tony making hot chocolate in the kitchen as white noise. It used to help her focus.

Now, it just gives her a splitting headache.

"Incoming call from Mr. Stark."

Aria's eyes widened. "Oh my God. FRIDAY, what time is it?!"

"It is half an hour past eleven o'clock, Aria."

"Shit!" The girl scrambled to her feet from the edge of the building she'd been dangling her legs from. "I was supposed to be back at the tower by eleven! Dad is going to kill me."

"Should I decline his call?"

"Uh, yeah," Aria hastily agreed, fixing her earpiece. "Do you think you can make it look like I'm somewhere without service and that's why he can't connect?"

"Certainly, Aria." FRIDAY hesitated. "However, I am unsure whether that is the best course of action for you to take -"

"Less talking, more blocking, please!" Aria interrupted as she made her way to the rooftop's door.

"Call blocked."

"If he calls again do the same thing," she ordered. "Uh... How far away am I from the tower?"

"Approximately twenty minutes," The ai replied.

Aria sighed. "Yeah I'm dead."

Suddenly, a voice floated over from the rooftop of the building next to hers. "Sounds tough."

Her head snapped to up, wand instantly at the ready, heart pounding in her chest. She scanned the darkened area, only to realize who it was—Spiderman, crouched casually on the edge, his mask-covered face tilted in that annoying way that made it seem like he was smiling.

Her shoulders relaxed as she lowered her wand, a mix of irritation and relief washing over her. "Are you following me?" she wondered aloud, narrowing her eyes at him.

Peter really needed to say something.  He was on the rooftop of the building across hers, gazing down at Aria, feeling like a complete stalker.

Are you following me?  That implied something different than just some random passerbyer who saw Spiderman and asked the vigilante to do some kind of back flip.

He decided that'd it'd be best to just stop overthinking the situation because the longer he stayed quiet, the worse the situation got.
"What do you mean?"

She let out a mocking laugh. "I mean I've noticed how you've been staked out at the top many buildings near dad's tower."

"I've heard that the area has a high crime rate," Peter said. He dropped down to the rooftop in front of Aria, landing on his feet swiftly. "I'm sorry, though. I didn't mean to frighten you."
