"Oh sweetheart...you look beautiful."Pepper awed as she zipped up the back of the gown with a soft smile, and then stepping back to admire her daughter.
Aria stood in front of the full-length mirror, her eyes tracing the delicate details of the gown that cascaded down her frame. It was an off-shoulder satin dress, deep midnight blue , hugging her waist with a slit that flared out into a floor-length skirt. It was Wanda's gift to her for her fifteenth birthday.
"You think so?"
Aria turned slightly, taking in the reflection of herself, trying to recognise the girl in the mirror.
"I know so baby." Her mom smiled, then her eyes widened. "Oh!" She exclaimed, as if remembering something important. She walked over to the bedside table and picked up Aria's wand.
Pepper approached Aria, standing behind her as she met her daughter's eyes in the mirror. "Hold still," she whispered, her tone playful.
With a twist of her wrist, Pepper wove the wand through Aria's hair, transforming her loose waves into an elegant bun. The movement was graceful, and within seconds, Aria's hair was swept up, leaving a few delicate strands to frame her face.
"There."
Aria touched her hair lightly, feeling the cool surface of the wand now hidden among the tresses. It was a touch of who she was—both the girl and the witch.
Her lips pulled into a smile.
Suddenly, the door to the room burst open. Tony stood in the doorway, his eyes widening as he took in the sight before him. For a moment, he was speechless, and then, with a dramatic sigh, he wiped an invisible tear from his eye.
"I can't do this," he announced, his voice thick with feigned emotion. "Why do they grow up so fast?"
"Ever heard of knocking?" Aria asked, popping a hip to the side and crossing her arms. "You make a fist, lift it, and gently hit the door to let the person inside know you are out there."
"Ouch."
Pepper chuckled softly behind her, stepping aside so Tony could take in the full effect of Aria's transformation.
"Dad—" Aria started, but Tony interrupted, holding up a hand as if to stop himself from being overwhelmed by the sight.
"No, no," he said, shaking his head in mock despair. "I'm not ready. She was just building robots in the workshop yesterday. And now... this." He gestured dramatically at Aria in her gown.
Aria rolled her eyes affectionately. "It's just a dress, Pops."
Tony walked over, placing his hands on her shoulders and meeting her eyes in the mirror. "Just a dress? Not on you, kiddo. My daughter's going to be a heartbreaker. But seriously, can we not talk about how I'm suddenly ancient?"
