I put on my black dress and look at myself in the mirror, a smile immediately appears on my face as I see my beautiful reflection. Hey! I'm not being conceited here, I just love the outcome of my looks. Simple yet classy. My short hair compliments the simplicity that I want to achieve, as well as the little makeup I put on my face after like a hundred years of debating myself. It was a good decision not to overdo everything and to not give Lisa an impression of excitement. I just want this night to be a chill night, like friends having a nice and cozy date. To start this night, it is important to be comfortable with her and not feel awkward with each other. Okay, who am I kidding? In all honesty I don't know how long I will last in the situation I am going to be in. Feelings are impossible to fight and ignore and I feel like the butterfly in my stomach and the thumping of my heartbeat will betray me when I am near with her.
"Simple, classy. I like it."
I glance at Chu, who is now leaning on the door jamb. Her body is only wrapped with a fluffy towel while her arms are folding below her chest.
"Thank you." I say shyly, not really knowing how to react to her comment. "Are you not going out with Rosé?"
An exaggerated blowing of air is heard from her as she starts walking to the closet. "I'd rather spend time with some strangers than that woman." There is a hint of annoyance in her tone.
"Chu!"
"That woman is bossy." She immediately counters, rummaging through her clothes.
"She's not. You're probably teasing her, that's why she's like that to you."
She quickly snaps her head at me that makes me scrunch my nose. I feel like her head separates her neck because of her sudden movement. I have a feeling that it would hurt her neck later on.
"I am not doing anything bad to her. It is not my fault that she just easily gets annoyed on petty things." She says with conviction not hiding the dismay on her face.
I sigh, shaking my head.
She clicks her tongue. "Just don't mind us, okay?!. I am sure we both don't want to spend time with each other." Pulling her cotton shorts up to her waist, she continues to speak again. "We are like oil and water, we can't be together. We will just murder each other."
"That bad?" I ask her in disbelief.
She nods, smiling widely at me. "So go now and stop being a bridge on a friendship that is far impossible to happen."
"You are so mean!"
"I am not. I am just stating a fact." She lets a throaty chuckle. "Now go! Your date might probably be bored waiting for your sluggish ass."
I scoff, glaring at her.
She just laughs and walks toward our bed. Then she sits and gets her book on the nightstand. She really is serious about not spending time with Rosé.
Sighing, I glance once again in the mirror before making my way to the door. However, before I reach the knob, I turn to Chu and call her name. She lifts her head and glances at my direction as she slides her eyeglasses on the tip of her nose.
"Thank you, Chu"
Lines on her forehead appear, indicating she has no idea what I am thankful for. When I see her mouth open, I continue to speak, giving her a smile.
"For letting me be with her."
Nodding, she also gives me a smile. A thrifty one. "No worries. I just felt like you need this after what happened in New York." She pauses, biting her lower lip. I can sense that she is hesitant to say something more, thus I eagerly ask her what is on her mind.
