"No the thing is you're supposed to act cool..." June March was standing in the yard , her hands on her hips as she tried to make sure JJ would stick with their plan. No telling...not till Midsummers. Not till her doubt had rolled away and she was sure she could do this again. She had to be sure before she told anyone else. And 100% sure was something she was not.
"How can I act cool when I'm hiding a big secret. I'm not good at hiding things from John B. The dude can look at me and tell I'm hiding something." He looked paranoid and unsure, his hands in front of him and showing her what he meant. He was wearing a white t-shirt, some beach name etched on the front of it and a pair of shorts. June had a big t-shirt on of her own, tucked loosely into a pair of shorts...and she looked relaxed. She became quickly aware of the fact that they looked like they had both rolled out of bed, which was true...she had just rolled out of bed—his bed.
"Just don't make that stupid fucking face you're making right now and you'll be fine. Calm down. Shit you seriously look like you're hiding something." She walked towards him and grabbed his flapping hands, holding them in front of them and giving him a tight smile. He blinked a few times and then cooled, her face reminding him of the compromise they had made.
"Okay...okay I got this. We got this." His lips turned up at his words and he got a sheepish look on his face, the boy leaning a little closer and smiling. "You and me...we. We're a we again."
"Gross. Cheesy ass." June said, unable to stop the smile from covering her lips. He started to lean towards her for a kiss but she pushed his face back with her hand and rolled her eyes, taking off across the yard and towards where the others were waiting for them. He followed her like a lovesick puppy, eyes glistening with obvious infatuation. He thought there was no way they wouldn't know. But then he realized he had been looking at her like that for a long time anyways. So there shouldn't be any real difference. Junes smile faded with her back turned to him, the girl attempting to push away the avalanche of doubt that was building against the walls she had put up defending her decision. With every minute they spent together, she was reminded of the time they spent apart...and why.
June could see the others on the dock, Kie and John B animatedly arguing about something that she couldn't quite hear. JJ wasn't walking too far behind June, the boy pep talking himself into not being so unbelievably obvious that something was different. He knew this was not going to go well from the get go...mostly because the fact that he had told John B about his plan with Junes dad and then he had never followed up with what happened. He knew his friend would have questions, and if John B did anything...it was jump to conclusions.
"Woah...d'you two come together?" The second they were within eyesight and earshot of the others John B called them out, Junes eyes widening and her lips parting. Her cheeks warmed and she shook her head to try and get the the blush to go away.
"No, we both just got here." JJ said from behind June, the blonde walking past her and bumping her shoulder. She watched after him as he did a short handshake with Pope and then leaned against the railing, his head tilting slightly as he gave Sarah as tiny wave. John Bs eyes were already narrowed as he stared at the flustered June, JJs lips turning up into a smile as she seemed to choke on her own plan. Maybe she was right about this, but maybe this could also be a little fun. Maybe it would be a game of who got caught first. "So what's the plan?"
"The boat...we're gonna go riding—fishing I guess." Kiara was the one who answered the blonde, his eyes squinting from the sun as he nodded in her direction. John B had his arms crossed over his chest as he raised an eyebrow at June, already jumping to the conclusion that she was hiding something. She jumped at him slightly and he finally looked away, clapping his hands together and gesturing towards the boat.
