Third PERSON POV
The Mehndi function was in full swing. The boys sat together near Rudransh, while the girls gathered around Shruti. The Henna artist had just begun her work when Yashi suddenly took the mic, and Samriddhi and Riddhima picked up the dholak.
As the beats filled the air, Yashi's voice rang out-
"Ho teri hathha witch mehendi ka rang khila hain,
Tujhe sapano da changa mehboob mila hain..."Samriddhi and Riddhima joined in, their voices blending beautifully with the rhythm of the dholak.
"Meri banno pyaari pyaari, sari duniya se nyaari,
Ise doli mein tu leja doliyaan, doliyaan..."The energy in the room was electric. The guests clapped along, and laughter echoed in the air.
Just then, Adarsh grabbed another mic and shouted, "ARE YOU GUYS READY TO ROCK THE STAGE?"
"YESSS!" came the collective cheer, the excitement reaching its peak.
From the side, Manan whistled, grinning. "Waahh, baby waah!" he praised, thoroughly enjoying the performance.
Shrish, who was sitting beside him, nudged him and pointed at a girl. "Voh Riddhima ke bagal mein kaun si ladki hai?" he asked curiously.
Manan smirked. "Voh... voh Samriddhi hai."
Shrish let out a dreamy sigh, whispering, "Hayee..."
Manan raised an eyebrow. "Kuch bola?"
Shrish immediately straightened. "Nahi toh."
Meanwhile, Adarsh's gaze was fixed on Vaishnavi, completely captivated.
Aashvi, clapping her hands in excitement, squealed, "Wowww Mumma! Wowww Maasi!" her eyes sparkling with joy as she watched Yashi and Ruhi perform.
The atmosphere was lively, with everyone cheering and enjoying themselves.
Feeling a little tired, Yashi stepped away to get some water. As she lifted the glass to her lips, she suddenly felt a warm hand wrap around her waist. A shiver ran down her spine as she felt Adarsh's breath against her neck.
"Humare saath nahi dance karegi aap?" he murmured huskily.
Yashi's eyes widened, and she pouted. "A-Adarsh... hum bahar hain... koi dekh lega."
Adarsh smirked, tightening his hold. "Nahi dekhega... aur dek bhi liya toh kya? Main toh apni patni se hi pyaar kar raha hoon... we are still together," he whispered before pressing a soft kiss to her earlobe.
A deep blush spread across Yashi's cheeks. "Aacha, aacha, bohot ho gaya! Ab hato!" she huffed, pushing him away gently.
Before Adarsh could respond, the sound of a car horn interrupted them.
He turned towards the entrance. "Lag raha hai Maa aa gayi."
Taking Yashi's hand, he led her outside, where his mother was stepping out of the car. As soon as he saw her, he let go of Yashi's hand and rushed forward.
"Maa!" he called, embracing her tightly.
His mother, Vasundhra Devi, held his face, her eyes filled with motherly concern. "Kaisa hai tu? Haye, kitna patla ho gaya hai! Kuch khata peeta nahi hai kya?" she scolded, tugging at his ear.
Adarsh chuckled. "Aisa kuch nahi Maa... bas thoda busy tha."
Vasundhra Devi sighed. "Main sab jaanti hoon... par ab main aa gayi hoon, na? Tujhe ekdum fit kar dungi!" she said with a teasing smile. "Waise, tu mujhe kisi special insaan se milvane waala tha, hai na?"
Adarsh nodded. "Haan Maa."
Stepping aside, he revealed Yashi standing hesitantly behind him. As soon as Vasundhra Devi's gaze landed on her, her expression hardened.
Yashi hesitated but, gathering courage, stepped forward and bent down to touch her feet.
Vasundhra Devi immediately stepped back, her eyes burning with anger. "Yeh ladki yahan kya kar rahi hai?" she spat.
Adarsh's expression darkened. "Maa... aap jo soch rahi hain, woh galat hai."
Vasundhra Devi's voice turned colder. "Mujhe kuch nahi jaana. Mujhe bas itna pata hai ki yeh ladki mere bete ki kaatil hai... bas!"
Tears welled up in Yashi's eyes at her harsh words.
Adarsh clenched his jaw. "Maa... aisa kuch nahi hai. Yashi ne kuch nahi kiya tha. Aap andar chaliye, sab log aapka intezaar kar rahe hain... main abhi aata hoon." His voice was firm.
Without another word, Vasundhra Devi turned and went inside.
The moment she left, Adarsh immediately pulled Yashi into his arms, holding her close to his heart. "Sshh... it's all fine... I am sorry," he whispered, rubbing her back soothingly.
Yashi clutched onto him. "Main kaatil nahi hoon... nahi hoon main," she sobbed.
Adarsh kissed her forehead. "Haan, mujhe pata hai... bas, shant ho jao, hmm?"
After a few minutes, Yashi calmed down and pulled away slightly. "Tum jao andar... main abhi aati hoon."
Adarsh looked at her with concern. "Are you sure?"
She nodded with a small smile. "Haan... you go."
After a lot of insisting, Adarsh finally left. Yashi, however, walked towards the backyard, needing some air.
As she sat there alone, a familiar voice pierced the silence.
"Tum mere bete ki zindagi mein phir se kyun aayi ho?" Vasundhra Devi's sharp words cut through the night.
Yashi turned to face her but remained silent.
Vasundhra Devi scoffed. "Chup kyun ho? Jawab do! Mera ek beta toh waise hi maar diya tumne, aur ab mera doosra beta par bhi nazar hai kya? Mujhe toh samajh nahi aa raha ki tum insaan ho ya dayan! Pata nahi kis apshagun ghadi mein maine tumhe apni bahu maana tha!"
Yashi bit her lip, willing herself not to cry, but before she could respond, Aashvi ran towards her.
"Mumma! Aap kahan ho? Chalo sab log andar aapka wait kar rahe hain!" she giggled.
Yashi forced a smile, kissing her daughter's nose. "Tum chalo beta, main abhi aati hoon."
As Aashvi ran back inside, Vasundhra Devi let out an evil chuckle. "Waah... mujhe toh kabhi soch bhi nahi sakti thi ki koi aurat itni giri hui ho sakti hai. Matlab mera beta ne tumhe chhod diya toh tumne kisi aur ke saath sambandh bana liya? Waah... tumhari beti bhi kahin tumhari tarah ek dayan toh nahi?"
That was the last straw.
Yashi's eyes blazed as she stepped forward. "BAS! Kabse sun rahi hoon, par ab aur nahi! Aapne mujhe bura bhala kaha, main chup rahi. Mera character pe sawaal uthaya, main fir bhi chup rahi. Par meri beti ke baare mein ek lafz bhi mat boliyega! Warna jo bade hone ka lihaaz kar rahi hoon, woh bhi bhool jaungi!"
She wiped her tears, straightened herself, and walked back inside.
As she entered, Samriddhi immediately came to her. "Tu theek hai na?" she asked worriedly.
Yashi smiled and nodded. Just then, Aashvi dragged her to the henna artist.
As she sat down, she looked up to see Adarsh dancing with Aashvi, their laughter filling the air. A soft chuckle escaped her lips.
For now, she chose to cherish this moment of happiness.
