Chapter 6 - Assault on the Docks

"We're approaching the docks. Everyone take your positions", I hop off my motorcycle and look at my wrist and click on my earpiece, "We're early, how's the view from up there Ada?"

Ada answers, "Nothing yet so far, there's sings of gang members beginning to gather around the warehouse but no sign of the ship coming in anytime soon. I'll let y'all know if anything changes".

I look back to the rest of the team hanging out near a maintenance shed a rock throw away from the warehouse, each of them stands or sits around waiting for further orders. Each of them polishing their weapons and making sure everything is in order for us to strike fast and hard, no activity from any location and nothing signaling that the Anti-Crime Unit will intervene. Carter walks up beside me, "How you feeling? Any sign of our target?"

I shake my head and look at the warehouse, "I guess I'm feeling a bit nervous, always happens when it comes to big missions like these. Ada says there's no activity to report yet so we're stuck waiting until we get the signal".

Leo chimes in, "So the same as always. Wait until they show up?"

I nod, "It's unfortunate but it is what it is. We should be thankful there's no sign of the Anti-Crime Unit otherwise, we'd be in greater trouble than usual".

Sergio puts his head back against the wall and groans, "What is it with those cops doing everything they can to trap us? Shouldn't they be helping us in a sense?"

Yui chimes in and shakes her head, "Not really, technically speaking we're operating out of the boundaries set by the ACPD. It wouldn't be good PR if the ACPD started working with vigilantes that have no qualms about shedding a bit of blood here and there".

Sergio nods and shrugs, "I guess so but you would think they'd at least try and talk to us to better coordinate responses. We don't always have to resort to spilling blood...right?"

I look at the ocean and shrug, "I don't know, maybe we don't or maybe we do. It depends on how far the criminals go in whatever mission or purpose they have".

Miguel fiddles around with a rock he found, "The ACPD aren't our enemies right?"

Everyone in the group looks back at me, I look at them and smile, "Of course not, I don't have anything against them. The corrupt elements are our enemy but the rest well, they're just trying to do their job the best way they can".

"And the Phantom Strikers?", everyone looks at Eve who's seated next to Five.

I look back at her, "I don't have much to say about them, as long as they don't get in our way then they're fine in my book. We have no reason to fight them unless they pick a fight with us".

Carter chuckles a bit, "Well we did work well together that one time back when...well you know"

I nod, "Yeah but most of them weren't part of the main roster. They were just backups for when the heavy hitters are off on their own mission. I doubt we could get along as you could see from Discus and Twinblade plus...they have Dark Archer on their team, they can't be trusted".

Five laughs a bit, "Come on...isn't Yui and the Alcaraz brothers proof that people can change?"

"Yeah, yeah but...", the earpiece beeps for everyone as we look in the distance and see a ship approaching the docks.

We look to our right and see a couple of cars coming towards the warehouse, Ada begins to speak, "We got a ship coming in and cars approaching from the distance. I think it's time to move out".

I put my helmet on as everyone gets up and begins to stretch. Five shifts into the armor as Eve breaths in and out trying to calm herself before we move out. The Alcaraz brothers are looking over the weapons one last time before heading out as they each make sure their pistols are loaded. Yui checks to make sure she has both her knives ready as well as a couple of flash bangs and smoke pellets that could come in handy. Carter stretches around and puts on his gauntlets and begins to shadow box around. I smirk and look towards the warehouse, "Alright let's move in quickly and silently".
