Chapter 9 - New Tricks

"Magic users? Are you sure about this?"

Abraham nods as he sits back and looks at the camera footage from the shop, "I don't know how many but even then, if it was just one person then that alone is enough to scare me".

"That is indeed worrisome", magic users in the city right now. No doubt about it, Hearthstone sent a detachment of troops to accompany the Lucerian heir. They can't be lower echelon troops , with the amount of pressure that Abraham felt, it can only mean that they belong to an exclusive battalion or to put it in simple terms; they must belong to one of the many entourages led by a commander close to Hearthstone. There's no proper way to prove this unless I see for myself but doing so would bring more attention to the team than I would so desire. Turning towards Eve, Abraham, and Five all I can do is smile and clasp my hands together, "It seems it is time to teach you three a couple of things which will be useful to know for future battles". Using a basic transportation spell, I take all of them to a patch of abandoned farmland, "Let's begin with Five shall we?"

Five steps forward, "So what can I possibly learn?"

"You need to learn how to tap into that spirit possessing your arm. Speaking of which, I have yet to hear our furry friend".

Immediately a voice rings out, "I have nothing to say to you Grealish. Just teach him what he needs to know and I'll follow along".

"So he does talk. Very well, in your case it's more of little by little borrowing from Fenrir's power. Consume too much at once and you'll be nothing but a mindless beast with the only thought being pure destruction. If we start small and work our way up, we may be able to tap into the powers of Fenrir".

This seems to astound Five who only looks at his arm, "How can I start?"

"We can first begin with working on those senses of yours. So to do that...", in a snap of my fingers we find ourselves in the middle of a busy town, "I'm going to need you to find your friends in this crowd. You can focus on these three senses, there's hearing, smell, and sight".

Five scoffs, "There's no way I can find them in this crowd".

"Focus".

Focus...focus...focus. How the hell am I supposed to find Eve and Abraham in this forsaken place, there's too much noise, smells, and sight is a no go either. There isn't really a way to focus my hearing, too many conversations and the bustling of cars and people shouting around are overwhelming to say the least.

Tough isn't it?

"Fenrir I don't need your criticism right now. Why don't you try and help me? Let's try using a bit of your power to find them".

Let me see what I can do.

A small rush of energy comes from my arm and flows to the rest of my body. Concentrating a bit harder I try to imagine Eve's voice and little by little the rest of the noise begins to fade as it begins to concentrate on finding a voice close to Eve's. A voice is quietly heard in the distance a bit muffled but I can tell who it is in an instant, "So how did we get here", the next thing to do if focus on smell. The sudden rush of various smells coming from the restaurants and from people around is begins to overwhelm me once again.

Focus, don't let yourself get overwhelmed.

I take a deep breath and sniff around, a sweet scent begins to emanate from the distance. The scent smells like rose with a touch of orange and other citrus flavors, it's the perfume that Eve wears every time we go out somewhere. There's another smell, a coconut scent which comes from the shampoo she uses for her hair, these two smells help me identify Eve. I open my eyes and turn towards the direction of the smell and sound, my sight manages to zoom past the crowd until I reach the sight of Eve talking to Abraham, her hair flowing in the wind as she looks around to try and identify the location they find themselves in. Pointing down the sidewalk I begin to walk over as Grealish follows me with a proud smile on his face, a snap of fingers is heard and we're back to the same patch of land.
