Chapter 24 - Furious Resolve

We're stopped once again, a sudden surge of energy was felt a while back and I just noticed that Yui was missing. A boulder crashes through the windows as it separates us from the rest of the group, "Go on ahead! We'll take care of these two!"

Five looks outside the hole in the wall, a pair of people stand outside as one of them meekly waves back, "We can't leave them waiting can we?"

The two girls look at us, the taller one stands in front of her sister, "Let's just get this over with".

"No introduction or anything? Are we not worth your time or something?"

She sighs out and point at herself, "The name is Diamond", she points to her sister, "That's Hearts. Now let's get to it."

Five chuckles as his arm morphs into a cannon, "Fine then". The wind blows as Diamond stands in front of Hearts, as Eve does the same, both of us stare at each other as multiple stone projectiles are launched our way. Five blasts them out of the air, the projectiles seem to have multiplied as I cancel out the duplication spell. More stones rain down on us as a shield surrounds me and Five rushes towards Diamond, seems my job is to duke it out with the support.

Hearts looks at me as Diamond and Five clash, "I don't want to fight".

"Then why are you here? Why did you join them?"

Hearts sits down as she hold her book in her hand, "I had nowhere else to go once we escaped that forsaken prison. All that I had left was my sister."

"Don't you have parents or any other family members?"

Hearts shakes her head as the noises of battle ring out in the background, "We were created in a lab. Each of us was a test tube baby engineered to be some sort of weapon for an organization we don't even remember. Ace was the one who planned our escaped and we've been with him ever since."

"Why go into the mercenary business?"

Hearts chuckles, "Well there's really no spot in the job market for enhanced individuals. I'm sure you of all people know this right?"

"I guess so. I mean...", looking back at Five and Diamond fighting amongst each other, "Maybe there's a spot with us? Away from the criminal underworld? A new chance to begin, wouldn't that be perfect for you and your sister?"

Hearts looks unsure by the proposition I offered, "I don't know. We all saw what Azrael did to our friend Clubs, I doubt he's in a forgiving mood."

"Don't worry, I'm sure I could convince him and maybe he'll let the rest of your team join. That would give us an advantage against all foes we might face."

Hearts smiles and looks over to her sister, "We should tell them right? Before they do any more damage to each other"

"Sure let's go".

Five/Fenrir
Rubble lies around us as we each take a couple of breaths, "Not bad Diamond. You truly live up to your name".

Diamond smiles as she wipes her lips, "Not so bad yourself", she covers both her arms in a rock casing as cracks her fist, "Let's see how you handle this—".

She collapses to the ground as Hearts stands by her smiling as Eve rushes towards me and giggles, "Surprise!"

"What is going on?", both Eve and Hearts look at each other and laugh as I stare in shock.

Eve points to Hearts and Diamond, "We just needed to make sure you didn't hurt our future teammate."

The copies each go down as we use various magical techniques in order to maximize our damage and kill count. Each of the copies rush in an attempt to overwhelm us as we push them back and catch our breath, "We can't keep doin this. We're going to run out of breath before we even make a dent on this army."
