Chapter 7 - Failed Assault

5 Days Later, Cielo Blu

Luka Madroni, Head of the Madroni Family
"It appears we are all here so let us begin with our first order of business", the screen turns on and a recording begins to play.

"Good evening gentlemen, I hope you find yourselves well", the man is sitting in a dark room, "I do apologize for the lateness of this recording but I would like to congratulate you on your successful mission". The camera turns towards a crate emitting a bright blue light, "The Prime Matter has reached our facilities and we'll soon be fully operational for the next phase of our plan". He raises a cup into the light, "I propose a toast. Here's to the Five Families and to The Syndicate, may our partnership last for a thousand years".

The recording cuts off and everyone at the table raises their glasses in the air and shout in unison, "To the Five Families and to The Syndicate!"

Josef Petrov puts down his glass and calls for a plate of food, "How long are we supposed to wait for the next phase to begin. We were promised that Shadowblade would be taken care of and now there's another vigilante on the loose. How can we trust this man whom we've never even seen?"

Kenji Tonari is brought a plate of food, "Well Josef if you want...you can continue fighting the Trailblazers without Syndicate weapons. How was that going for you before you joined our partnership?"

Petrov scowls but continues to eat, this allows Emiliano to speak, "I share the same sentiments as our Russian amigo but we must be patient. Our time of dominance shall once again return".

William Scott wipes his lips with a napkin, "Well that's if we're able to rid ourselves of this little Azrael problem", he turns to a figure who's seated near the other side of the dining room, "How's that going so far?"

Ace gets up and shrugs, "We've been monitoring the Outskirts and we've yet to have any intel of where his base of operations is. We do have a couple of theories about his supposed location".

Hearts gets up quickly and walks next to him, "Three figures are approaching this location, they're all magic users. Might be more behind them".

Ace grins and bows, "Gentlemen, continue eating and sit back and watch as we do the job you hired us for".

Each of the Wild Cards exit the dining room and head towards the outside of the restaurant, I get up and raise my glass, "Here's to us. Now let's eat".

"So Ace what's the big plan?", King pops his as he readies his ice swords.

"Three magic users compared to eight of us? I don't think there's any need for us to plan out any cohesive strategy. In fact...", I look at King, Diamond, Spade, and Joker, "Why don't the four of y'all go ahead and have some fun. If push comes to shove, we'll provide back up if need be".

Hearts looks down the left side of the street, "They've gotten through the blockade set up by the Five Families. They'll be at our position in about 5 minutes".

Joker pops his neck and a couple of copies of him emerge, "Well lets not keep our guests waiting shall we?"

Milo speaks over the comms, "Take a left and you'll get to the restaurant. Its pretty isolated but I guess it makes sense to have the rich away from the city for safety reasons".

Everyone is running beside me as Five looks around, "Security has been rather lax considering this is where the heads of the most powerful crime families are meeting".

Sergio laughs, "Maybe that's how cocky they are about the fact that no one has been able to catch them until now that is".

Eve stops running and looks around, "Something doesn't feel right...", in an instant she turns to look up and conjures up a shield to cover us from projectiles of ice and rock. Two more ice projectiles are launched at our sides but Carter and Five blasts them apart as we all get into a circular formation with Eve in the center.
