Hana Tanaka
There's not much to do around the shop and it's been noticeably quieter. Only a couple customers come in but order a drink and then sit there for hours, some look up to watch me once in a while and they leave at the same time. The evening rolls around and I get ready to go up on the rooftop, I hide the pistol inside my hoodie and walk up to gaze at the rest of the city. The words my father said to me in my dream resonate in my head, I have to follow my heart but there's no clear sign of what I want to do. On one hand, I'm angry and want nothing more than for Abraham to tell the truth and have him take responsibility for his action. On the other, I can't help but forgive him for being careless, I know he wasn't at fault for my father's death."Seems you beat me to the rooftop once again Hana", Abraham walks up carrying a couple of sodas as he walks up and sits down next to me, "So what should we talk about now?"
"I don't know. I kind of wanted to sit here for a bit". Abraham looks confused but nods his head as we stare at the city, the lights and sounds all visible and audible from the roof. "I'm going to France in a week for a trip".
Abraham looks at me and smiles, "That's great Hana. You of all people deserve a break"
"Yeah. Courtney and Amelia invited me and I thought it would be crazy to not take them up on their offer", I look across to the building in front of the coffee shop, "Of course this means that I would have to leave the coffee shop for a while".
Abraham salutes, "Well you know you can count on me Captain Hana".
I let out a small smile, "Thanks". Once again we sit in silence as we look on towards the city, "I need to get up and stretch. Sitting down has me tired".
Abraham nods and looks on as I walk behind him and take out the pistol and point it at him my hands shaking as I point it at his back, he looks at the city and sighs out, "You know I used to hate this city. All it's technology and lifestyle never suited me even since I was a child. My mother and father tried their best to change my mind but nothing pleased me about this city. There was a point in which I wanted to run away but then...", from behind it looks like he's laughing, "Then you walked into the classroom and immediately started talking to me. There were points in which I wanted to push you away but you insisted on dragging me along for your little trips and adventures". Abraham gets up, "Meeting you and your dad made me realize that maybe this city has something special about it". I put down the pistol and toss it off the side of the roof, he turns back and looks at me, "Meeting you has made all this worthwhile".
My eyes widen as the wind blows with a gentleness and caring chill, walking up to him, we once again stare into each others eyes, "You'll stay here right? With me to run the coffee shop?"
Abraham smiles, "Of course, I wouldn't leave my friend to run things by herself "
I get closer to him, "You won't leave again right?"
Abraham puts his hand on my head and ruffles my hair, "Of course not. Hana what's with you? Are you okay?"
A smile escapes my face, "Yeah I'm okay, I just well wanted to make sure. You'll wait for me to get back right?"
"Of course I will. I kinda have to considering I'll be caring for the shop while you're gone", we both look at each other and sit back down and continue to talk and laugh as the night goes on, the hours pass by but we don't feel the passage of time as we laugh and laugh.
Abraham gets up and waves goodbye, whispering I look at him, "I love you".
