“So we just decided to watch the movie the ticket seller recommended us, and it turned out to be the worst ever"

Matt had been talking non-stop about his date with a girl he met during the weekend. I pretended to hear intently nodding and smiling every once in a while, because as much as I wanted to be a good friend my thoughts keep drifting back to a certain person, making every other thought disappear.

“That´s great Matt. When are you going to see her again?" I asked trying to focus on this conversation instead of the one that was taking place a couple of meters away from us in the 'popular crowd'.

“Don´t know, I mean I want to call her but I don’t want to seem too insistent" He replied shrugging placing his arm around my shoulders.

I hugged him back “Matt, I´m sure if you ask her out for next weekend she´s going to be thrilled" I said messing his hair playfully.

“I know." He said winking “I´m that irresistible"

We both laughed for a while before leaving to our different classes. I had economy while Matt had finances, they were each at different buildings so he couldn´t accompany me to class like he usually does.

Humming to the last song I heard on the radio this morning I walked through the corridors trying to be early to that class for once. Somehow I always seem to get late to economy, the only day that I didn´t y teacher made everyone congratulate me, not a nice memory.

“Hey beautiful" A voice from behind me startled me.

Turning around I let a smile take place “Hey Jake, how are you doing?" I asked pacing from one foot to another. So much for being on time.

“Great, now that I´m able to see you" I laughed at his comment ” But what I really wanted to ask you was if everything turned out fine with the chicken"

I smiled, hugging him “Yeah, we could find her a little bit after you left. Umm... listen now that we are talking about that I wanted to apologize for Blake´s behavior, he had no reason to talk to you like that" I said with an apologetic smile.

“Don´t worry about it, you shouldn´t have to apologize for his attitude" Jake said offering me a smile " But if you want to make it up to me maybe you could come with me to the cafe after school"

Before I can muster an answer Liz comes stomping from behind us and glares at Jake “Doggie, our councilors called for a meeting right now, they think they have to mend our ´relationship´" she said rolling her eyes " they can keep trying the whole year for all I care"

Jake looked at her amused “Doggie? I think our relationship is improving if you already have a pet-name for me; does it stands for amazingly handsome, or that no matter how hard you try you can´t help but love me?" he said winking at her.

I felt like a meteorite had just been dropped to the pit of my stomach. Jake had just flirted with Liz, still holding me! Okay now I see exactly what everyone means when they say he is a player. And to think I once wanted to change him; maybe someone will, one day, but not me. I´m not her Cinderella and he certainly is not my prince charming.

“Okay…. Maybe I should get going” I said uncomfortable untangling myself from the hug, almost running to my class.

Liz and Jake should really start working on mending their relationship. Just by the way they speak during their fights I can´t see they miss their friendship, after all no matter how hard we try friends are not easy to forget. Even if it´s for worst or best each one of them meant something to us.

The rest of the day passed on a blur, and after the last bell rang I was ready to make an escape to the comfort of my house where season four of Gossip Girl was waiting for me. I was just abut to enter the parking lot when my best friend grabbed me from the waist making me stop on my tracks.
