Untouchable (MATURE CONTENT)

CHAPTER 4

She sat behind her desk and was about to log on to her computer when a soft knock came at the door. Gia was glad her office was soundproof otherwise the whole restaurant would have heard her screaming out Anthony's name.

"One moment, please," she said, pressing the intercom button on her desk phone and proceeded to make sure that there was no sign of what she and Anthony had just shared. No one needed to know what they did in private. What happened between them would always be between them.

They worked like a well-oiled machine. They satisfied each other's needs without feeling jealousy or any of those complicated feelings. They loved each other. They protected each other and they would always be family no matter what the future held. They were a team and would remain so for all time to come whether she or both of them settled down or not. The kind of connection they had was unique and they would cherish and protect it from and against anyone or anything. It had been ingrained in them since birth.

Gia walked to the door and unlocked it and opened it to find a smiling Tatiana standing there. "What is it?" She smiled at her and walked back to her desk.

"There's a man here to see Anthony. He says Dante Drago sent him," Tatiana said.

The bathroom door opened and she gifted Anthony with a huge smile and Gia thought it was the sweetest thing, however Anthony being the man he was simply nodded at her and turned his attention to Gia.

"What's this about?"

Gia shrugged her shoulders and instructed Tatiana to send the man inside in five minutes.

"Get in the cubby quickly." Anthony reached inside his pocket and pulled out a small black square that resembled a keyless entry device for a car and pressed the button.

The wall to the side of her desk slid open revealing a small room with monitors and state of the art computers and a comfortable recliner. A small wet bar was in one corner and in the other corner a small bathroom as well.

Anthony had named it the cubby because it looked like a cubby hole and he thought it was funny.

Gia got inside and Anthony pressed the button again and waited for the door to slide back into place.

To everyone that walked inside her office the door to the cubby was just a normal wall. The contractor that had built it was rewarded handsomely and had pledged his loyalty to her and Anthony making them worry less.

Their world was not an easy world to live in. They moved like creatures of the night trying to stay under the radar and most of the time it worked, but there was always someone who thought they could outsmart them, and they ended up face down in the dirt and at times their families did as well.

It was a cruel and violent world they had been born into, but it was the only world they knew.

Gia poured herself a club soda with a splash of cranberry juice and sat down in her brown suede recliner and put her feet up. When she saw her red painted toenails, she nearly panicked remembering her heels were by the couch. She walked over to the console where the monitors were and pressed the button that would allow Anthony to hear her through his earpiece.

"My shoes, Tony."

"Way ahead of you, honey. Don't worry. Just sit back and relax and let's see what this clown has for us."

Tatiana walked back to the office with a medium-sized man. He couldn't be more than five feet nine inches. A short little thing compared to Anthony.

"This is Mr. Cromwell," Tatiana told Anthony giving him another one of her huge smiles and a tiny wink as she walked out.
