Gia was sure that she had made the right decision choosing Clarise as her mole. "I need you to be my eyes and ears at the club. Anything you see out of place you call me directly, but I also need something from you that needs to be kept between you and me and no one else. Do you understand?"
Clarise nodded her head yes and leaned in to listen attentively to what Gia had to say.
"I know that you only tend bar at night and that's fine. When you're working, I want to know Giovanni's every move. Do you know who he is?"
Again, Clarise nodded her head yes.
"I want to know the minute a stripper lands on his lap, I want to know if he goes to the private rooms, I want to know the minute he sets foot in the Treasure Chest and what he does and who he's with. What do you make a week?"
Clarise leaned in a little more, not wanting anyone to hear her. "I make eight-hundred-forty for six days plus tips."
"I'll make it fifteen hundred a week. No one can know what you're doing for me, Clarise, not even Trent."
"I understand. Please trust me. I know that you probably don't trust many people, but you can trust me," she said, putting her right hand over her heart.
"Good, good. Now get going and call the moment you have anything." Gia gave Clarise her card and got up to leave and her phone started to ring.
She excused herself and made her way back to her office in the restaurant. "Hello?"
"Why did you leave so early? I miss you," Gio said.
"I have an organization to run, remember and if I recall, you're my Chief Advisor."
"I am, and I advise you to get your sweet ass back here and get in bed so I can keep making love to you and perhaps fuck you good and hard just the way you like."
Gia's cheeks flushed with his crass words, but she loved it when he spoke like that.
"I can't do that. I have to meet with Dante today and—"
"No, you don't," he said, cutting her off.
Gia could hear movement in the background, and it made her uneasy. "Where are you?"
"The penthouse and no you don't have to meet with Dante today."
"And why is that?" Gia tried to keep him busy while she dialed the front desk of the penthouse on her landline.
"The man is trying to get in your pants, and I don't like him," Gio said making more noise.
The landline rang and rang and by the fourth ring the concierge answered, "Emerald Towers, how may I help you?"
"It's Gia," she said, recognizing the voice of one of her crew.
"Yes Boss."
"Hang on." Gia held the receiver to her stomach and kept talking to Gio.
"I thought the whole point of the plan was to—"
"I said no Gia!" he barked at her. "You're not to meet with Dante unless I'm present. Do you understand?"
Gia seethed with anger. She put Gio on hold and spoke into the other phone. "Is Gio in the penthouse?"
"No, Boss. He left about an hour after you did."
"Okay. Mouth shut and eyes and ears open," she ordered.
"Yes, Boss."
Gia hung up and pressed the hold button again on her cell phone. "Gio, I give the orders not you. I think fucking me has gone to your head. Now be a good boy and go fuck yourself. I have business to attend to." Gia cut the call and put her cell phone in her skirt's pocket and walked out of her office locking it behind her.
