CHAPTER 42

Kade stood there analyzing the situation. It was not an easy one, but he understood why Gia was acting the way she was. She felt out of control. Her body was working against her due to the pregnancy and the shock was still fresh in her mind. She still had to deal with Anthony whom she never thought would betray her and Gio was another stressor for her and Kade didn't want to think the worst, but he was getting the inkling that Gia's feelings for him weren't all gone.

Yes, she was his wife. Yes, she was pregnant with his child. Yes, she said she loved him, but was she in love with him?

When she had been made to choose between him and Giovanni, she hadn't hesitated for a single moment and chosen him. That spoke volumes and he knew that, but it still didn't make him one hundred percent sure of her love for him.

"Gia, baby, please put the gun down. Nothing is going on here, I just asked Gino to let me know when you were feeling out of sorts is all. You are Boss and I am Boss, they answer to both of us as you ordered, love," he reminded her.

Gia hated feeling out of sorts. Everything was happening so fast she felt out of control and that was something that always put her on the defensive and made her trigger happy as well.

She was also going through the stages of grief, and she was now stuck on anger and rage and ire. She was beyond control; she was beyond understanding and rational thinking. All she wanted to do was get revenge for what Giovanni had taken from her. He had built her up and tried to take her down. He had hurt her and humiliated her, and she would not let it slide.

She was Boss, she was Gia Benedetti-McBane now and her wrath would be felt in all corners of the world.

Kade walked up to her slowly still holding his hands up not wanting her to feel threatened in any way. "Gia, you know that I love you and I am on your side. Talk to me."

She heard his pleading tone and for some reason a pang of guilt exploded in her chest. "I want him to pay, Kade. I want him to feel the desolation he made me feel when he took you from me. I want him to feel the heart wrenching pain I felt when I thought you were dead. I want him on his knees," she said as anger coursed through her entire body.

"And he will feel all that and more, sweetheart. I promise you he will, just let me in and I will help you make it safe for our child. Just let me in," he pleaded, getting closer to her, and taking the gun from her hand in a gentle manner. He put it behind his back in his waistband and engulfed his wife in a bone crushing hug.

"Don't ever leave me again," she whispered against his chest.

"Never again, now let's go make this world a better place for our children." Kade pulled back enough to look at her beautiful face.

"Children?"

"This one is only the beginning, love. I plan on making as many babies with you as your body will give me." He grinned.

"We'll see about that Mr. McBane, now we have business to tend to and I have women to take care of."

The smile on her face gave Kade a chill. He had always known that Gia had been raised to run one of the most powerful organizations in the country and perhaps the world. She was a force to be reckoned with when it came to the safety of her Family, and he was witnessing it first-hand.

The safe house Gia had the women in was lit up and full of women who had no idea why they were there. They were all scared and wanting answers, but they weren't getting any from Gia's men and they wouldn't get answers until Gia herself decided to give them.
