Chapter XXII: Friend or Foe

Fighting Kaellan has never been an easy job. He used to be my friend and my ally. And looking at him now, surrounded by me, Harper and Damon weren't as satisfying at all.

Despite suffering from a bleeding hand, Kaellan is able to maintain his strength and even wear a smirk, particularly when interacting with Harper.

Kaellan and Harper has a long history. They were a couple once but Kaellan's lust of power had driven Harper away. I looked at Harper who's eager to inflict more pain on Kaellan as he hurt Krystal, her best friend.

I could see the anger in her eyes, and I knew that she was prepared to do whatever it took to make Kaellan pay for what he had done.

"You hurt her!!" Harper said, her voice shaking with anger. "And we're here to make you pay."

Kaellan laughed, a bitter, cynical sound. "You think you can take me down, Harper? You forget that I'm stronger than all of you combined!"

"Why Krystal, Kaellan, why do you have to involve her in this mess? We both know, you can hurt me anytime you want." I asked.

Kaellan simply laughed and said, "Haven't your precious little Krystal told you anything?" He asked but I don't have any idea what he's talking about.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Your Krystal, found out about my plans years ago. She wasn't supposed to find out about my secret dealings but she did. I forced her to shut her mouth and told her that I'll kill you if she uttered a single word about it." He confessed making me angry.

He was the reason why Krystal became much fearful and timid all those years ago.
"She was very obedient after that." He said smiling.

"What the fuck do you mean?" I asked, gritting my teeth in anger.

"Oh you know, she simply found out that I am the head and mastermind of everything that's going on in our gang. She wasn't supposed to know. You are all just supposed to follow what you're told but your nosy girlfriend sticks her nose to places she wasn't supposed to."

"I overthrow Damon's father as the King a long time ago and he was just a puppet working under my rule but of course you, Kye, have taken his liking and started disobeying my orders and even started putting you in-charge himself. You started eliminating the one's who hurt your precious girlfriend." He laughed.

"Funny, when you killed Sebastian, the recent mafia leader before you? He was innocent, you know?" He smirked making me angry.

"But alas, here we are. If you want to know what I did to your girlfriend, well, I only tortured her time to time." He said smirking.

"I stabbed her dog a lot of times and told her to finish it off herself. She was shaking you know, watching her dear pet, bleed and whine. And asking her to kill it was fun to watch, really. Want me to send you the video?" He said happily which made me unable to control myself making me punch him hard.

"Speaking of videos, I've made quite a lot of fortune making her the star." He said laughing making Harper throw a punch at him as well.

Bruised and bleeding, he still laughed. "She was quite a bait." He said.

Enraged, Harper and I continued to beat Kaellan until he was a bloody mess on the ground. We were disgusted by his sadistic enjoyment of torturing and exploiting Krystal.

As we stood over him, panting and angry, Kaellan looked up at us and grinned. "You can beat me all you want," he said. "But you can't take me down that easily. I am still too powerful. And Krystal was just a pawn in my game."

His words only fueled our determination to bring him down. We knew it wouldn't be easy, but we were ready to do whatever it took to make sure that Kaellan paid for his crimes.

"I don't think so," I said, stepping forward. "We know about your shady dealings, Kaellan. And we're going to expose you."

Kaellan stood up, his face twisted in rage. "Expose me? Have you forgotten that you are all once with me. Besides, you're all in the mafia the same as I am."

Harper and I exchanged a glance, knowing that we had struck a nerve.

"We've already confessed everything to the authority and because of that, were not taking liability with everything you've done! You've done far worse things than we did," Harper said, her voice low and menacing. "We have evidence that will put you away for a long time. And we're not afraid to use it."

Kaellan hesitated for a moment, his eyes flickering back and forth between us.

"You are all ahead of yourselves, the police won't help you." He said laughing.

Damon all of a sudden pounces on Kaellan as he continues to laugh in between Damon's punches.

I was beyond mad and still a raging bull but Harper was beyond that. She even started stabbing Kaellan's body as he fell unconscious on the ground not moving.

I never would've known that Krystal had suffered so much.

Damon was then on his knees crying and sobbing, apologizing for what he did to Krystal. We didn't know honestly but as I went closer to Damon, I saw that he was stabbed and was bleeding as well. I was about to tend his wounds but he stopped me.

"No, don't. This is the payment of my actions. I'm a monster. I didn't know what Kaellan did to her. If only I had known earlier I wouldn't even dare touch her, but I did. I'm a monster." He said

Damon uttered his last words before he collapsed, conveying Krystal's location, "Krystal's at front of the warehouse, near the containers, she's safe. Take a good care of her, Kye. She needs you." He said.

Harper and I stood there in shock as Damon's body lay on the floor, a pool of blood spreading around him. We had never expected things to escalate this far.

Damon's confession only made things worse. We had brought him into this, thinking he could help us take down Kaellan. But we had never expected that he was involved in Krystal's suffering too.

We were filled with a sense of guilt and grief. We had lost a partner in our fight against Kaellan, but more importantly, we had lost a human being. Damon may have done terrible things, but he didn't deserve to die like this.

But we knew that we couldn't let his death be in vain. We had to continue our fight against Kaellan, even if it means going up against everything he stands for. We had to bring justice to Krystal, to Damon, and to anyone else who had suffered at Kaellan's hands.

Harper and I vowed to keep on fighting, even if it meant putting our lives on the line. We would make sure that Kaellan paid for his crimes and that justice was served.

Harper and I left Damon and Kaellan's body for our people to dispose later on. I need to go see Krystal, we both do. So then, Harper and I ran off to the location where Damon left her.
