HARPER
As we approached, I could see Krystal sitting on a makeshift bed, her head hung low. I could sense the sadness and despair radiating from her. I walked up to her and knelt down, placing my hand on her shoulder.
"Krystal," I said softly. "I'm sorry, you don't deserve all of this."
Krystal looked up at me with tears in her eyes. "I'm sorry we didn't know about Kaellan and what he did to you all those years. We are so sorry that we didn't notice!" I said as I hugged her.
"I know," she said, sympathetically.
Kye then stepped forward and cleared his throat. "Wifey, we need to talk."
Krystal nodded silently, and started to explain what had happened since her capture. In tears, Krystal sobbed and cried in his arms as he gently stroked her hair.
I immediately felt a wave of shock and sadness wash over me as Krystal broke down crying. Kye and I exchanged a worried glance before kneeling beside her, trying to comfort her as best we could.
"Krystal, oh my god," I said softly, my heart aching for her. "I had no idea. I'm so sorry. We'll do whatever it takes to make it right."
Kye put a hand on her back and spoke up. "They're gone Krystal! You're safe!"
Krystal sniffled and wiped away her tears, looking up at us with a newfound determination in her eyes. "Thank you."
We then drove directly to Kye's place for the reason that he wanted to keep an eye on Krystal. She has been through a lot. "She's strong," I told Kye which he immediately agreed.
"You should take a rest Kye." I told him but he refused. "I'll stay beside her, even just for now." He said as he holds her hand while she's asleep.
"You know, Kaellan and Damon are gone right? Why can't you be happy with her?" I asked him.
"Just like you said, Krystal had been through a lot and she doesn't need me right now, what she needs is her therapist, I fear that she might hurt herself after what happened to her." He said as he stares to a sleeping Krystal. I smiled looking at both of them.
What happened to Krystal wasn't easy to take in. After everything we've been through, I thought I knew everything but then we found out about what Kaellan did to her. He exploited her to the Dark Web and not only that, he made her kill her own dog. We were young then, now it all makes sense why she had changed a lot.
Feeling a bit uneasy, I called one of our members, Carmen, asking her about Kaellan's body.
"Carmen, have you guys disposed of Kaellan's body yet?" I asked through the phone.
"Fuck! Kye, we have a problem! Someone took Kaellan's body and if I'm correct, Kaellan is still alive!" She said worriedly.
"Shit!" I said angrily as I silently stored into the living room asking Kye to come with me.
"Kye, Kaellan's still alive and his body is gone. Someone took it. We have a snake inside our gang." I said.
My heart sank as I delivered the news to Kye. A sense of worry and unease settled over me, as I realized the magnitude of the situation we were now facing.
"A snake?" He repeated, more to himself than to anyone else. "Who could it be?"
I shook his head. "We don't know yet, but we need to find out before they do any more damage."
Krystal chimed in. "I might have an idea. I overheard some of the guys talking about a man named Marcus. They said he had been acting suspiciously, sneaking off to make phone calls and stuff like that. Maybe he's the one who took Kaellan's body."
Kye nodded, forming a plan in his mind. "Okay then, Harper, you stay here with Krystal. Keep an eye on things and make sure she's safe. I'm going to talk with the rest of the gang and see what we can do about finding this Marcus guy." Kye said as he instructed us what to do.
Krystal and I nodded in agreement, and Kye quickly made his way back to our base camp. We couldn't let this betrayal go unpunished, and whoever was responsible had to be brought to justice.
