"Fvck!' one of the rich merchants in front of Lalisa and Jimin cursed out loudly as they lost $200,000 in one round. Seated around a square table, Lalisa's face remained impassive as if she had not just earned such an amount in one play.
Out of fear for her skills, Jackson had sent her to a room that had rich merchants that were barely skilled. With just a little goading, she had been able to make them raise the stake from $50,000 to $200,000.
"I don't believe it." one of them murmured in disbelief looking at the girl that was still brimming with youthfulness.
All six of them were merchants and needed ways to keep their companies and businesses thriving and since gambling was one of the quickest ways to earn money you didn't work for as long as they played it safe, they loved to indulge in it.
And so when they had seen a young girl in her high school uniform and a young boy ask for a game, they had at first been offended until the gambling officiators assured them that they had a right to play. They had agreed very quickly with the intention of schooling them.
How could they have expected that in just the first round, they would have lost that amount of money.
"It could have been luck." one of them murmured as he looked at the surprised expression that Jimin had and took a swig from his alcohol bottle. Three of them nodded, accepting his narrative while the remaining two nodded their heads in disagreement.
"No, we all underestimated her." one of them said, his eyes that were slightly glazed previously from the drinks became clearer as he sat up.
"We will play again." he declared and the others nodded. Not only did they need to earn their money back, they needed to also win profits from these two.
.....
Lalisa nodded.
"Set the stakes now." she said and her eyes shined happily, making the six men think that she was on some high from winning.
"Double!" the man that had assumed the role of the leader announced. Lalisa took in the reactions of the others as she quickly determined that the man probably had the most money among them.
"I'll play this one more round, after which any money won belongs to the winner." she announced.
Her words made the six look at themselves in contemplation.
"$500,000"
Lalisa nodded in satisfaction. That was their limit and she also had no interest in pushing them.
Very quickly, the game started and like the first time, Lalisa carefully looked at each man's expressions to see the ones that had been handed a good hand of card. It didn't exactly matter much since they were all pooling together, but it would let her know where their trump cards were.
To a lot of people, gambling was a game of skill, but Lalisa was using psychology to make up for her lack of skill.
After determining which two had the best hand, she looked away from them and focused on the other four. In a game, there were four supreme cards, the most supreme being the Ace of spades. Luckily, this card was in her hands with one joker which meant that she already had the most superior card.
Unlike the first game, it dragged out longer with each of her opponents playing carefully, just as they were about to enter a stalemate, the two with one joker and one king immediately put out their card as they expected at least one more man to bring out one of the supreme cards.
"Are you now playing as a team?" Lalisa asked with furrowed brows like someone they had successfully scared out of her wits.
"We have always been playing as a team, princess." one of them replied as he sent a wink at her. However, after communicating with their eyes and trying to find who was with the remaining supreme card, their expressions started to change and they looked at her with suspicion, "are you not going to make your next move?"
