Hubris: Volume 3

Chapter 53: Voracious

The scene opens with Zeldris opening his eyes with a loud gasp and feeling around his body in a panic frantically, he looked around at his companions before looking down at his hands. The past death was imbedded in his mind..the fear was still lingering within him, he placed his hands on his head before he began to scream loud. The group looked at him before running over to him.

Tabitha: "Z-Zeldris are you okay?!"

Phoebe: "Zelly! Everything is okay, we'll get them back."

Cosmo: "Master, it will be okay..we're all here."

Ada: "It appears like..he's gone through something horrible."

The group hugged him and shushed him, Zeldris calmed down but he still couldn't find the courage to get back up..he was still paralysed from the fear of going back in. Zeldris had dark bags under his eyes, he crumbled to the ground and didn't utter a word.

Cosmo: "Master?! What's wrong?"

No response..not even a glimpse from him, Zeldris was sat not even moving anymore..fear would not leave him.

Tabitha: "W-We can't help you..if you don't tell us what's wrong Zeldris."

Phoebe: "Please Zelly.."

No response once again, just the look of his cold empty eyes were their indication something truly was wrong with him.

Ada: "Well..if we get his friend back. Perhaps it would lighten things up for him?"

Tabitha: "B-But it could be too dangerous, we don't know anything about the castle."

Phoebe: "I'm with Ada, if it will bring back Zelly. I'll do anything to get him back."

Cosmo: "Yeah!"

Tabitha sighed before looking back at Zeldris, she gave in before nodding to say she will go too. The four walked up to the castle after Phoebe used her spell to help them cross. As the group stood outside, a crow flew away to the top once again before disappearing. Ada pushed open the doors..and the darkness welcomed them. The group walked in fearlessly, as they did so the doors slammed behind them. The room was dimly lit with red spotlights, they couldn't see a single thing.

Tabitha: "I didn't expect the inside to be so dark, especially since people were living here."

Phoebe: "I can't see a thing, it's like the corn maze all over again!"

Cosmo: "I can see..but I wish I could see Master."

Ada: "Oh right, it slipped my mind cats have night vision. So right now, Cosmo dear can see bright as day."

Cosmo stopped in his tracks before his tail stuck up in the air and all his fur stuck up on the ends. He hissed lowly as he cut his eyes.

Tabitha: "Cosmo senses something..what is that?"

The scene panned over to the man that stood prim once again. He looked down upon the group before having a small grin.

???: "What a treat...so many have come to visit my nest."

Ada: "Stay back, all of you."

Phoebe: "Ew, what's that smell?!"

Cosmo looked around and froze..he noticed what was all around them..he looked at the man before saying.

Cosmo: "Why did you do all that?!"

???: "My dear feline, I have no interest..in you. You cannot satisfy my diet."

Tabitha: "What does he mean by that?.."

???: "Look around my dears..look at all the delicacy's around you all."
