Ty Borden is in?? All I know is the 5th floor.

Caleb.
Caleb O'Dell. I'm a friend of Ty's, well more like a co-worker, but I've never actually met him.
Amy asked me to drop this bag of clothes off for Ty and sort of hang out with him for a while.
She had to go to school today.

It's nice to meet you Caleb; I'm Marty.

Yeah, Amy mentioned your name & said you were like a mom to Ty.

Everyone needs a mom on hard days, don't you think??

Yes ma'am!!

Is that a rodeo buckle you're wearing!!

Sure is, I work the circuits every year.

Bulls or broncs??

Bronc's ma'am; riding bulls is a sure way to die young.

You look like a mom, you've got that motherly beauty going on.

I get accused of that by a lot of people!!
And aren't you a charmer!!! Marty laughed.

517. So you work at Heartland Ranch??

Um, yes Ma-am. Jack hired me shortly after Ty left. I guess Amy was pretty upset after he like split one night.

Yeah, Ty had a family emergency to attend to.

Oh!! I didn't know that.

So, do you have a girlfriend Caleb??

No not really; I asked Amy out once but she never got back to me. I think Ty was still in her heart.

Ty!! You're awake, good, you've got a visitor!!
Caleb O'Dell meet Ty Borden.

Hi Ty!! It's nice to finally meet you!!
Amy talks about you all the time.

Strong handshakes were exchanged.
Caleb saw Amy's sweater hanging on the bed rail and her slippers under Ty's bed.
Caleb didn't miss much.

Hi Caleb, thanks for coming down and bringing me some clothes. Doctors say I might get to go home in 3 days.

That's great Ty!!

Hey have a seat, Caleb, set those clothes in my closet. Thanks again.

Sure, anytime!! So you ride??

No, not so much. I prefer motorcycles.

But you coached Amy to a win in last year's Fall Finale. How'd you pull that off if you don't ride??

Geometry. Angles of entry at the jump, shortening the number of steps to the next jump, and tighter angles save seconds.
But having an experienced and talented rider was the real key.

I can see why Amy loves you Ty; your focus is on her.

Ty was quiet for a second, he felt an instant bond with Caleb; sort of brothers who had never met.
Ty made a quick decision and replied.....

Except when my dad called me; we'd been estranged for years. He asked me to come and travel a bit with him for a while.
I saw how Amy and Tim reconnected and I wanted to try with my dad. But I didn't know how to tell Amy I needed to go.
So I left her a nervously written letter and just left. I'm going to have to tell her.

Yeah, it might hurt, but the truth is mandatory with girls. They can see right through BS.
But I think Amy will admire you for your honesty Ty.

Yeah, it's like a guy's relationship with his horse has to be honest. You rely on each other.
You know I asked her out a couple of months ago.
She never replied but I figured you still owned it.

Amy's heart.
Don't let her go again Ty, 'cause if you do......I'm asking her out again!! And I'm not taking no for an answer.

Fair enough!! Ty replied.

Starving!! Caleb replied with a grin.
There's a burger joint a block away, will that cute nurse lady.......Marty, let you go??

I'll ask!! Ty replied with a laugh.
Maybe she'll come with us!!
I need a beer really bad!!

You know, Marty asked me if I had a girlfriend.
Do you think she likes me??

No!! Man she's old enough to be your Mom!'

Caleb laughed, and replied........
Dude, if Marty was 20 years younger I'd ask her out in a New York minute. She's beautiful!!
