Nick nelson found out that he was a vampire when he was sixteen, he started getting migraines and cravings for red meat, the doctors thought it was some sort of iron deficiency. At the time he thought the aversion to sunlight was because of the headaches.

Nick didn't know how his father found out, they were semi estranged seeing each other a couple of times a year. But his dad flew over from France for a surprise visit. He gave Nick a red smoothie that tasted coppery, Nicks migraine disappeared as he drank it. His dad also arrange to take him on a trip back to France that weekend and gave him enough smoothies to last until then.

Once safe in the family villa nicks dad told him everything. Nick was a vampire, so was his dad. His mum was human and had no idea, It was a common practice to impregnate a human and let her raise the child until their true nature appeared during puberty. Once the child was confirmed to be a vampire it was inducted into their secret society.

Over the next few years his powers would develop, Nick would need to be moved to a special private school for vampires. The secret society of vampires was named Dracula after their founder; and apparently they ran the world from the shadows.

Nick was shaken by this news, which was exactly why his father had isolated him in France, so he could come to terms with his new reality. His father explained that he didn't have a choice, he was no longer human he was a vampire. The secret society was not optional. He would join Dracula, if he refused or ran they would hunt him down and kill him and his mother. It wasn't personal it was just operational security, anyone who knew about their secret society either had to be part of it or dead. There would be no escape, no hiding, Dracula had the resources to find anyone anywhere in the world. Nick had no choice but to join and follow their rules.

His Dad told Sarah about an exclusive world class boarding school he had managed to get nick into. Nick had to lie to his mum and say he wanted to go, to make it more believable nick said he wanted to go because of rugby; thankfully he wasn't lying when he said the school had state of the art facility's with special coaches and trainers.

And so less than a month after he found out he was a vampire he was off to his new life. Nick was told that there were many Dracula schools around the world; he would be going to the one in Scotland.

It was located on an island in the middle of nowhere, an island Dracula owned and ran. It was best to keep emerging vampires isolated from the world until they learned to control themselves.

There was only one small town on the island, built to support the school. Its entire population were thralls, (humans who knew about vampires). They all either worked in the school or for the infrastructure that supported it.

Despite the extreme remoteness the facilities were anything but lacking. It had more amenity's than the average palace, pool, gym, spa, ballroom, you name it they had it.

One of the prefects showed nick to his room, though it was basically an apartment. The main space was an open plan living room along with a dining table and small kitchen. Though there was a cafeteria downstairs served excellent meals, most containing blood.

There was a master bedroom with a connected bathroom. Nick was surprised to find out that what he thought was the door to a storage closet was actually the door to the servants quarters. Nick thought the prefect was joking until he opened the door revealing a boy cowering in the corner of the tiny room. He was curled up on the bed as far as possible from the door and flinched when the two vampires looked in.
