Lydia

Relax Lydia don't panic. You're not the first person to get lost and stuck in the woods, lonely, in the dark, hearing the sound of the frogs croaking, the owl hooting, and with numerous scenarios of being eaten by wild animals, running through your head. It's Okay, you just have to breathe and think of a way to get your foot out of those branches.

Fuck.

This is not helping at all. I'm stuck here, on the ground, with these fucking branches tangled around my foot. Did I mention that I didn't have my mobile phone with me? If I even think about calling for help, no one will hear me.

Suddenly I hear someone calling my name. It's Enzo's voice. His voice is getting clearer, but it's still far away. He's walking in the opposite direction to me, so I try to call his name to tell him where I am.

"Over here, Enzo!". I shout multiple times.

The leaves crunching under his foot as he runs is able to tell me how much he's close. The sound is growing louder and louder. You're safe now, Lydia, don't worry. Enzo's shadow becomes clearer, and I can finally see his face. He walks towards me, pointing the flash of his phone in my direction. I'm so glad to see his face. I'm so happy to see him.

"Are you okay?". Enzo asks, worriedly as he squats next to me checking if I'm hurt anywhere.

I chose hugging him rather than telling him about my stuck foot. I hug him tightly, burying my face in his neck.

"I thought no one would ever find me". I cry.

"I'll always find you Lydia. I'll always find my way to you". He replies.

I slowly pull myself away from him and I gaze into his eyes. His face softens. It's the same look from last night on the balcony. I can't let that thing that is running through his mind happen. I mustn't surrender to this moment. I'm with Carl now. Enzo is a page that I've turned long time ago and I forgot about reading it. I'm on a new chapter now.

I break our eye contact, pretending that my foot is hurting me. His head turns the moment I groan in pain and his hands run quickly to check my foot. He helps me get my foot out of the branches, then he slides his arm under my armpit and locks it around my waist, lifting me off the ground. I wrap my arms around his neck to help him lift me. As I step on my foot, I lose my balance and I hold tight onto Enzo's clothes guaranteeing that I don't fall, though I know pretty well that he won't ever let anything happen to me.

My foot hurt so bad. I must have a cramp for having it stuck at the same place for a long while. Enzo lifts my lower body, and he carries me between his arms. I rest my head on his shoulder, and I close my eyes enjoying the sound of the wind as it hits the leaves. It always feels so peaceful when I'm with Enzo, but this night is different. The moments when I am too close to Enzo are rare and among all of them this one is my favorite because I'm close to his heart. I can feel his heart beating and this time it's not because he's panting, but because he was worried about me.

"If you wanted to go for a night walk, you could've taken someone with you". Enzo scolds me for going out to the woods alone.

"I didn't go for a walk". I reply. "I went looking for something".

"And that thing was worth it to go alone in the dark?". He looks at me with furious eyes.

"It was a bracelet. It's a gift from my mom". I explain.
