There's No Plan

Enzo called me to meet him in our practice room. I go there and I find him already settled, two chairs are adjusted one opposite the other, his guitar is out of its box and music sheets are everywhere.

"Hey!". I cut off his guitar playing.

"You came!". Enzo says, putting his guitar away.

I hang my purse on the chair's back, and I sit down. Enzo organizes his music sheets. He opens his notebook, and he tears a paper. He sits opposite me, and he smiles.

"I finished writing the song". He says, smiling and wiggling the paper he's holding.

"We finally can know whose part we're going to work with". I reply letting out a sigh of relief.

"No, I mean I finished it". Enzo says and gives me the paper.

"If there's anything you would like to change, I'm all ears"

"If there's anything you would like to change, I'm all ears". He adds while I'm reading the lyrics.

"Is this what you're feeling?". I ask.

"I just answered what you wrote. Do you think these could be my feelings?".

I refuse to think about that tricky question because I'm afraid of its answer and the conversation it will lead to.

I'm finally over Enzo. I'll never think about the possibility of being with him again. I lost against my heart once, but I won't let that happen again. I give up on my love for Enzo and I'll try to work things out between me and Carl.

Enzo is nothing to me, nothing more than a classmate. There's no difference between him and Floyd. Exactly, nothing can make Enzo special.

I'm totally over him.

"Actually, I would like to add something". I tell him after I read the lyrics again.

He nods showing interest in listening to my opinion.

"The girl in the song seems like she's living in reality, while the guy seems like he's out of a fantasy world". I explain my point of view.

"Guy and Girl?". He cuts me off, then he clears his throat.

Enzo seems confused about the reason I'm making the couple unidentified. I refuse to refer to the couple in the song as us because that will only complicate our relationship furthermore.

"Okay, carry on, please". He allows me to continue.

"He invites the girl to rewrite the stars and make a new day. Well, that seems fictitious".

"Do you think he can't rewrite the stars?".

"I believe no one can do that".

Enzo folds his arms and falls into deep silence, thinking about my perspective. He bites his lower lip and I avoid looking at it. I know my heart will try to do something that I will regret afterwards, so I stop it before it's too late.
