Japan.
We are finally in Japan! The flight was everlasting, but I had my Cupcake to sleep on. He held my hand every second one of us wasn't in the bathroom and let me use him as my personal pillow.
Cupcake and I are in one hotel room and the rest of his family is in another. Their room has two beds and ours only has one.
Our room is also on a different floor. I am not sure if Yumi did that on purpose, I am pretty sure she is under the assumption that we are going to be having sex. She did ask me if I was on birth control a few weeks ago.
Apparently I have been on it for years. I thought I just took a pill everyday to help with my cramps, but apparently the main function was to prevent the conception of a child. I thought it was odd I took it every single day when my period is only three days. Apparently it is packed full of hormones and isn't just for pain.
Cupcake was pretty upset when he found out that Mama didn't fully explain to me what I was putting in my body everyday.
Today Cupcake and I are exploring the city of Kyoto, the city both his parents grew up in. Cupcake has been here about ten times in his life, so he is going to show me all his favorite places.
The weather here isn't too different from back home, so I have on a green floral dress and the most comfortable shoes I own.
Cupcake has a death grip on my hand as we walk out of the hotel. I am pretty sure he thought about putting a leash on me, just to be extra safe. As if I would ever let go of his hand.
Luckily, this is a pretty big tourist city, meaning more people speak English. But Cupcake is fluent in Japanese, so he can always translate for me.
He is so smart! Learning two languages is so hard!
"I am bringing you back in April at some point." Cupcake tells me as we walk down the sidewalk. I just give him a puzzled look. "Cherry blossom season, they are beautiful."
I am not too sure of the importance of cherry blossoms, but I am assuming that Cupcake has cherry blossoms tattooed on both his arms for a reason other than them just being pretty. There must be some cultural significance.
"What are weddings like here?" I question, thinking about flowers and the culture.
"Are you asking me to marry you?" He jokes.
I roll my eyes. "Of course not." I assure him.
"Good." He says, pulling me closer to him as someone walks past us.
Because I was the one that asked him on a date, asked him to kiss me first, asked him to be my boyfriend, and told him I loved him first, I promised him that he could be the one to propose.
I told him that was fine with me, as long as he didn't take too long. I gave him until I graduate with my master's. I think six years is plenty of time.
"Everything is so pretty here." I tell him, looking around at all the buildings, the vibe is so different than back home.
To start, Cupcake takes me to a temple. Apparently they are super important to the people of Japan, he tries to explain everything to me, but I get distracted by the architecture.
As we walk along the stone path I look at all the statues. I wasn't raised with a religion and I don't know much about any of them, I didn't even know any of them existed, but everything is still cool to look at.
The people talk around us, but I only understand a few words here and there.
Some people look at us, but luckily with this being a tourist attraction, I don't stick out too much.
