Chapter 28

"That really didn't hurt at all!" I exclaim as we walk through the heavy glass door.

I resist the urge to touch my ears.

I expected getting a needle shoved through both my ears to hurt, but I didn't even feel it!

Now, in a few months, I can wear earrings! I always loved all Mama's earrings, but she never let me get my ears pierced.

For now I have small diamond studs in my ears that I have to keep in until they heal.

"I am so excited!" I exclaim, Cupcake uses my hand to pull me closer to him as we walk to the car.

I was a bit confused at first when Kai led me to a tattoo shop, but when he told me that they do piercings too, I actually squealed.

He actually remembered me saying I want to be able to wear real earrings and not just fake ones!

I know Cupcake is relieved it didn't hurt at all, I think he would cry if I was in pain.

Cupcake opens the passenger side door for me, helping me into the car before closing the door.

I buckle the seatbelt as he walks around the car, getting in and doing the same.

The streets are even more crowded than when we got here, now it's about the time people get off from work.

We get stuck at every red light, but I don't think either of us mind.

"Thank you for today." I tell Cupcake, a smile on my face.

He gently squeezes my thigh. "You know I would do anything for you, Princess."

I think I fall more in love with him every single day.

"I have never really celebrated my birthday before. Mama made it sound like only my eighteenth would be a big deal. They gave me the day off from school and they made my favorite dinner, but that was about it." I didn't realize how much people celebrated birthdays, it was never something that we did.

"I hope you enjoyed it, I love you, Princess."

"I love you too, Cupcake."

"Happy birthday, sis!" Seb screams as soon as I accept his FaceTime call, startling me.

"Thank you!" I say to him. We have only sent a few texts back and forth since Kai and I came to school, so it is really nice to see his face again.

"So, what did you do today?" He asks, laying down on his bed.

I do the same, sitting on my bed, Cupcake is already sitting on it, so I sit right next to him and lean into him, his arm goes around me.

"Well, first we went shopping! I got so many cute things! Then we went to get food. After that, Cupcake took me to get my ears pierced! Look!" I exclaim, moving my hair and bringing my phone up to my left ear, showing him the diamond.

"Pretty." Seb says, I move my phone to show my face again. "Hey Kai." He says, acknowledging my boyfriend.

"Hey." He says, pulling me closer to him, I am half sitting on him at this point.

"I miss you Evie. I even miss you a bit, Kai." He says, looking sad.

"School starts next week." I remind him, regular school starts so much later than us! "You are going to make friends! Anyone would be a fool to not be friends with you."

He sighs. "I know, I just hate going into a school year knowing that I don't have any friends. Now I have to actually talk to people."

"You are going to do amazing!" I assure him. "Just hope that there is a really cute boy standing in front of your locker." I joke.
