When we arrived at the café, after walking 4 blocks, we saw Layne, who already had a table outside. "Hey, Luke," he said pulling Luke in for a bro hug. Next he turned to me. "Hey, beautiful," he whispered in my ear, only loud enough for me to hear. I was for sure I was the color of a tomato again. As we sat, the waiter came to the table to get out drink orders. As he got them he scurried off to another table, and Luke spoke, "What have you been up to Layne?"
"Nothing really, I got an apartment not far from my house and I am still in school and I have a job. So life is pretty good right now," Layne said, not really looking up from his menu. "What about you?"
"Nothing. Just being my lazy self," Luke said with a big smile.
"Oh, that sounds fun. I wish I could-"
Before he could continue the waiter came back and served us our drinks. "Okay, two Dr. Pepper's," he sat the drink in front of Layne and Luke, "and a water for the lady."
"Thank you," Luke and I said in unison.
"Do you know what you want or do y'all beed some more time?" the waiter, Daniel, his name tag stated, asked.
"I know what I want," Layne said looking at me and the Luke.
"Me too," Luke stated. "What about you Dillion?"
"I should know by the time you get to me," I said smiling up at the waiter. He nodded and went around the table collecting the two boys orders. "And for you miss?" he asked very politely.
"I think I will just have a grilled chicken sandwich please," I said and he scribbled it down before collecting the menus then leaving the table.
*Paying for the meal*
"That was the best food I think I have ever eat," Layne said leaning back in his chair. Daniel returned with all three checks in hand. "I will take that whenever y'all are finished." he said with a friendly smile before going to another table.
"Soemone has a crush on someone," Layne said with a laugh.
"What?" I questioned a little confused.
"Isn't it obvious? Our waiter likes you. He has been sending you some awful friendly smiles. I wouldn't be suprised if he put his number on your ticket."
"No he hasn't. Shut up Layne. He was just being nice. That's how you get good tips. Duh," I said rolling my eyes.
"Whatever," he said reaching in his pocket for his wallet.
I opened my wallet and pulled out $15 because my check was $13.47 and I was just going to leave the rest as a tip for Daniel. He came back to the table and handed us our receipt, sending us on our way with a 'Thank you' and a 'Hope to see you again.'
Layne and Luke stood outside for a good 20 minutes talking before I got tired and bored and started bothering them. "Luke, Luke, Luuukkkeee," I drug out.
"What is it Dillion?" he asked very calmly not looking at me for to long.
"I'm bored and want to go home," I whined.
"Okay, okay. We are leaving."
We both said goodbye to Layne before heading back to the car. When we arrived back at the car I was beyond exhausted and my feet were killing me. I got in and buckled my seat belt as Luke started driving. By the time we made it to the highway, I had drifter to sleep.
