Song after song after song. I let every lyric wash over me. The thumping of the beat vibrating the seat in the car. I tried to relax, slumbing down in the seat waiting to go to Luke's house and then go eat with Layne. I wished that everything would just go away. The sound of Luke's voice startled me, "Dillion." He looked at me with concern. I looked from Luke's face to my phone, back to him. "Don't worry Dillion. If you want, you could stay at my house until everything settles down."

I nodded. I knew that I didn't want to stay at the apartment by myself. He grabbed my hand and pulled it close to him. "We can come back and pick up your stuff later. We need to get going before Layne thinks we stood him up." Luke shifted into drive without letting go of my hand and we took off toward his house.

We didn't speak to one another the entire way. When we reached Luke's house, he shifted in his seat pulling out his keys before turning toward me. "Dillion, do you want to come in? I will only be a minute if you don't want to get out."

I could tell that he was kind of on edge after his conversation with Micheal, I could tell that it was most likely about me. Luke hadn't let go of my hand longer than 30 seconds since he had grabbed it back at my apartment. "I'll go in the house," I replied, knowing that it would make Luke feel a little at ease. I unclipping my seat belt and opened the car door. He met me at the front of the car, where he intertwined his fingers with mine, once again, and pulled me to the front door. He unlocked and swung the door open with his free hand, not letting go of mine until we were in the house and the door was locked back.
"I'll be back in just a minute. It shouldn't take me long to change. You know where everything is, make yourself at home." With that Luke started waking toward his room.
"You better hurry, wouldn't want your ex-best friend thinking we stood him up," I shouted, with a smirk on my face, after Luke who was at his bedroom door.
"Yeah, yeah," Luke replied grinning at me.
I walked to the kitchen and opened the fridge looking for nothing in particular. I grabbed a bottle of water from the shelf and took a drink. I walked into the living room praying that Luke would hurry. He knew that I hated being late for anything.
I was looking around the familiar room when Luke emerged from his room. He was wearing a pair of kaki shorts and a Superman tank top that I had never seen him wear before, and his hair was in its normal quiff. "When did you get that?" I asked pointing to the shirt.
"I think I got it for my birthday or Christmas or something like that," he said pulling the tank top out so he had a better look at it. "Are you ready to go?"
"Yep, just waiting on you," I said walking to where I had left the water bottle. I picked it up and Luke and I walked back to the car to meet Layne for our lunch date.
