I hesitantly open the door to the room, and immediately I recognize the group from before. The room is filled with people I don't know, but who I am assuming are also a part of Team Niall. As Casey, Thomas, and I enter, it goes silent. Everyone's eyes are turned towards me. As a result of this, I immediately shrink down and look toward the ground. Any drop of confidence I had leftover from my audition has left me. Shit...they're going to start judging me now.
Shockingly, everyone starts cheering for me and congratulating me. Telling me that I did so well and that they are so glad that I had chosen to be a part of their team. What in the world? Why is everyone so nice here? I smile and thank them for their compliments and I slowly take in my surroundings.
The room is nice. Filled with couches, bean bags, and little cushions that are all facing toward a TV monitor that is showing the live feed from the show. There's also an air hockey table and a foosball table in the back next to a vending machine and a drink machine. It, in all honesty, is built like a common room in a college. I love it. It has a comfortable feel to it, that makes me feel at ease.
As I slowly realize that neither Casey nor Thomas is at my side anymore, my attention is suddenly brought to the girl from the group coming up to me. She has honey-blonde wavy hair and green eyes, her smile is big and bright and from what I remember from our interaction earlier, she's nice. She seems like she'd be a good friend to have.
"Hi! Pyper, right?" she asks still smiling.
"Yeah, that's me." I laugh.
"You did so good! Getting four turns is amazing, girl! Also, I gotta say, I love your outfit! You gotta tell me where you got it from," she says laughing. You can just tell that she has an easygoing personality and she's comfortable around people. She's confident. I wish I was like that...
"Haha yeah, I think I just stole it from my sister's closet. But yeah it was crazy. By the way, what's your name? I just forgot that I didn't ask you,"
"Ohh you're totally fine! My name's Claire." She says sticking her hand out. Just as I take it in mine for a handshake, the guys in her group pop out of nowhere.
"Claire! There you are! Lost you in this big group of people!" A guy with brown chin-length hair and gray eyes says while slipping a hand behind her waist. "Oh, I was just getting to know some new people," Claire says while maintaining eye contact with him. They definitely have a thing going on. Cute.
"Oh well, can you introduce the rest of us? We're not as talkative as you, chatterbox." The guy says bumping his hips with hers. He turned towards me and stuck his hand out.
"Hi. I'm Anthony, nice to meet you. This right here is my brother, Alex, and this is Jamie." He says while referring to the two standing behind him. They were both around the same height but looked as though they were complete opposites of one another.
The guy I am assuming is Alex, looks almost exactly like him just with different hair. This is the guy who didn't acknowledge my congratulations before. I'm getting a weird vibe from him. I shrugged it off.
The second guy, Jamie, legit reminds me of a puppy. His green eyes and dirty blonde hair all complement well with his friendly smile.
"I'm Pyper. Nice to meet you all" I say, shaking Anthony's hand. "You guys did amazing by the way."
"Oh thanks, but in all honesty we were nothing compared to you." Jamie laughs. My cheeks turn slightly pink at that. I've never been good at accepting compliments so, this has been an awkward day for me.
Luckily, everyone's attention is turned to the door as Niall walks in with a huge smile on his face. "How's it going, Team Niall!" He practically screams out and is quickly followed by everyone in the room cheering.
"I would love to welcome our newest members from today's blind auditions: Almighty and Pyper Williams!" Huh, I guess their group name is Almighty? Kinda weird but I guess if it works it works, right? Everyone cheers and claps before quickly turning back to Niall to hear what he has to say.
"Alright, now that we finally have our full team and are done with the Blind Auditions, I will be choosing and dividing you all into two acts where you will compete in the Battles." He says with a slight mischievous twinkle in his eyes. "From there, you all will be emailed when your scheduled practices are and when the actual show will be. There's no need to be scared yet, so just learn as much as you can during your practices and you should be just fine. Now go on and just have fun. Get to know each other!" He finishes with a smile, which of course brings another cheer from everyone.
"So...are you excited?" Claire asks me. "I guess so, just as long as I'm not put up against anyone too scary, and the song choice is good, I guess I'll be fine," I say.
"Yeah, I'm a little worried though. It's so much harder to sing as a group rather than as a soloist. I know that it's easier with the nerves because you're not alone, but I think it'll all come down to the technicalities."
"Oh yeah, I get that," I say nodding my head.
"Hey Pyper, sorry to interrupt but we should probably head back now if we want to beat traffic," Thomas says with Casey behind him. "Oh okay. I'll meet you guys out in the truck," He nods his head and laces his fingers with Casey before walking out.
"Alright. I guess I'll see you whenever I see you next." I say to Claire and the rest of her group.
"Yeah, hopefully not too soon 'cause I don't really wanna go against you during Battles." Claire laughs.
"Oh gosh, yeah same! 'Kay bye guys!" I say walking out the door.
"Bye! Nice to meet you!"
