If you want to know, the process behind what happens once you reach the Live Shows is extremely boring. In the beginning at least. You receive an email from The Voice Administration telling you when your coach is able to meet with you, exactly what time you have to be somewhere, exactly right where you have to be, if you are late there will be a repercussion, yadda yadda yadda, you are now The Voice property, yadda yadda yadda.
Just kidding.
I don't think there will be that big of a punishment if you're late.
Once we received the email we were told to go into a 'tech-preparing meeting' where we were asked what we wanted the themes of our performances to be, what the costumes would look like, what the stage decorations should be, makeup, hair, microphones, etc. Basically anything you could imagine a tech-preparing meeting to look like. Maybe just with a bit more pizzazz because it's The Voice.
Right after that meeting, we went into another meeting but this one was with Niall so it was much better. He asked us if there were any song preferences before he made his suggestions; once again he pulled out a list of songs and had us discuss. (//A/N//: i shall keep the list secret from y'all for now... totally not because i have no clue what songs to do, what are you talking about?? -_-)
"Alright, so you guys are completely a-okay with the options?" Niall asked.
We all looked at each other and mutually shrugged, agreeing.
Niall smiled, "Sweet! You guys are easy, alright now all we gotta do is figure out what kind of vibe we want to do for the first song. I mean you guys have a pretty big following on social media anyway, so if I were you I would buy into that and use that to your advantage. But we have to make sure you guys sing a song that is still relevant yet also compliments all your voices. So talk among yourselves and figure out what vibe you lot want to do. Leave the song options to me, I'll figure it out based on whatever vibe you agree on. I'll be back in five to ten minutes, so get talking. Look at the list if you want help." With that he stood up and left the meeting room.
For at least a minute it is quiet. We're all looking at each other just waiting for someone else to start talking. It stays that way for thirty more seconds before Jamie finally breaks the silence.
"Stop looking at me Alex!" He bursts out, "God, you're freaking me out a little bit here bud."
"My bad, it just looked like you had an idea." Alex shrugs.
Jamie squints his eyes, "How would you get that just by looking at me?"
Alex shrugs yet again.
"Boys, stop being dumb." Claire says, "So does anyone have an idea? Honestly it doesn't matter, we're going to take each song into consideration so there's no dumb options."
"There could be." Anthony mutters but immediately gets elbowed by Claire.
"Oh shush. Pyper? Do you have anything you'd want to sing?"
All of them look at me while I grasp for words. "Uhh I mean, I think anything by Adele sounds good for a group. Orrrr oh! Maybe 'I Will Survive' by Gloria Gaynor, that one's really fun."
Claire nods pulling out her phone to take down notes, "Those are good options, anyone else?"
Anthony smacks the table, "'Take Me to Church', Hozier" He nods, "All I gotta say."
"Personally, I think we should do something more upbeat. Like, maybe 'Unwritten' by Natasha Bedingfield? That's one that Niall wrote down." Alex says looking at the table.
"Guys, just so you know we can totally sing most of these songs in the future if Niall agrees. Like we can sing one song next show and if we make it through we can sing another one on this list." Claire says.
"Wait guys, how many acts are still in the show?" Jamie asks.
Anthony furrows his eyebrows, "I think counting us there should be at least twelve left. Three for each team, and each live show one or two acts with the lowest votes gets eliminated. I think we're one of two groups left, the rest are all soloists."
There was a knock on the door and Niall poked his head in. "How's it cooking here?" He asks with a smile on his face as he walks into the room. "Have ya figured out any songs you would want?"
Claire nodded and pushed her phone towards him to show the list. "This is what we have so far. Some of us wanted to sing something more upbeat, others wanted slower songs. But honestly, I think we'd all be fine with whichever song you'd suggest. We can always sing those songs during the other Live Shows." She said, getting nods of agreement from the rest of us.
Niall smiled as he looked up from the phone, "Sounds good! As long as you guys are fine with a song of my choosing. I just wanted to see if you had any songs you were dying to sing." He chuckled, "Based on a few of your answers, I think I have an idea of what we should do here."
He looked around the room, making eye contact with all five of us.
"How do you guys feel about a little Whitney Houston?" Niall smiles.
