Y/n and Miguel sat across from each other in a booth, not saying a word as she nibbled on some bacon and he drank his bitter coffee while watching the news on the ceiling corner.

The past 30 minutes it had been going over topics such as the weather, violence, riots, and guns. Typical for a day in America. But also depressing on what the world was like. The sky had still been dark, it was around 5 am when the diner opened, so it had been awfully empty.

The most upcoming news that popped up on the screen was partly their fault, "An apartment building has randomly been destroyed. There was an investigation to try to get around on how this could happen, but everything was inconclusive. The biggest hole left was in apartment 444, where the destruction took place. Some critics suggest that this may be a sign of the devil, or perhaps some sorcery. Further investigation will take place although the situation is looking to be unsolved."

Miguel stopped paying attention when the girl started talking to him.

"So.." Y/n starts their first conversation of the day, "How'd you sleep?"

He looked at her through his eyebrows, putting down his coffee. "Terribly." He said.

"How so?" She tilts her head, making him roll his eyes.

"Because I was in the car with you for a whole night." He goes back to watching the news and sipping his coffee, hoping that the girl would just leave him alone.

She sits back, cringing at her attempt to make conversation. Maybe he wasn't as nice as she had thought. Maybe seeing him sleep so peacefully gave her a different impression of him. Anybody who slept that quietly and angelically couldn't be mean? Right? But Miguel was mean.. maybe the meanest.

"Do you hate me?" She blurts out.

He looks at her for a second, hate was a strong word, that he most definitely didn't feel towards her. It was a funny feeling he never felt before, that words couldn't really describe. However with the amount of annoyance he felt in the moment he blurted back out, "Yes."

It was a simple statement but it was enough to make the girl question her life. At first she blamed herself, maybe she was too talkative? Or maybe she was too loud? Or maybe she had a punchable face?

But then bad thoughts about the man arose in her mind. He's probably judgmental. He's too moody. He's not even a fun person to be around. Who does he think he is? Ugh I just hate him so much too. "Why?" She pressed on, aggression lacing her voice this time.

"Firstly, you don't know when to stop talking." He stated, making her heart skip a beat and her insecurities rise, "Secondly you fell into the bruja's trap, like an idiota! Now, she's after us. And it's all your fault."

"Ok, smart guy." She crossed her arms, leaning back in her chair. "If you saw an old woman in a cafe motioning for you to come for her- and have dealt with elders with dementia before, would you not have gone and helped her? You're acting like I'm so dumb and stupid. And I'm so sick of it!" She shouts.

"Because you are dumb and stupid!" He shouts back, matching her volume level. "You can read minds, bruja! When you're going into any situation with a stranger don't you check if they're dangerous or not? I mean that's what you did with me, huh?" He questions.

"What? I don't know what you're talking about!" She gaslights him.

"Oh yes you do! Don't act so innocent. Now,I'm going to disintegrate in a few days thanks to you. God, you're just such an awful person." Before her heart could drop from the awful words that just went out of his mouth someone interrupted them.
