Miguel stood at the door frame, the room pitch black before colors started blotching and scenery began taking place.
Y/n sat at the end of the table, her face the same as now. A cake sat in front of her with a 2 and a 5 candle. "Feliz cumpleaños a ti, feliz cumpleaños a ti, feliz cumpleaños a Y/n, feliz cumpleaños a ti." She closed her eyes, blowing out the candle and making a wish. The lights shut off.
When they turned back on, everyone at the table was dead, and Y/n was looking right at Miguel who stood at the door frame, her eyes turning beige.
Miguel sat up sharply, gasping loudly, causing Y/n to turn her head towards him sharply.
"Who's that?" A feminine voice on the phone asks.
"No one." Y/n stood up, going to the window and moving the curtain to let the light in. It was still Wednesday, but Miguel had fallen asleep that afternoon- so it was now the evening. Y/n would've done the same, but while he slept she was fighting her hangover. Miguel's sleep schedule had never been consistent, but it wasn't his biggest worry at the moment.
The voice continued talking, "Okay.. anyways we should do what we did last weekend, go out and party hard till we through up our guts. Plus, remember that guy that was Derek's friend? He was sitting at the bar next to us. He thinks you're cute and he wants to talk." She states.
"Liv that sounds great, but I'm out of town right now." Y/n took the water from the night stand and took a sip.
"What? Where are you? Why didn't you bring me?" She threw questions at the girl who's head was already pounding.
"It's complicated." She said.
"And what about work?" Liv asked.
"What about it?" She asked back.
"You love working, Y/n/n. Are you ok?" Her voice seems genuinely concerned.
"Yeah I'm fine." She assures her, "We can go out the the weekend after this upcoming weekend." The girl states, pacing back and fourth as her socks hit the hotel carpet with each step.
"Y/n.." Liv stated her name softly.
"What?" She says in confusion.
"That's when the funeral is." Liv states.
Y/n pauses in her pacing, not believing that she could so easily forget about her pops. Especially since it had only been 1 month since he passed. "Oh," Was all she could get out, before letting painful silence take over.
"I gotta get going." Liv finally says, "Call me back whenever, yeah?"
Y/n stays silent, nodding her head and forgetting that Liv couldn't see her.
"Y/n? You there?" She questions.
"Yeah, sorry. Bye." She hangs up the phone, putting it face down on the side table. She walked over to the bed. She sat, her back to Miguel.
"We should probably get going. I don't think we can afford this room any longer." She says.
"Well, you're not completely wrong. We should go, but we haven't been paying for this room at all." He states, rubbing his fingers up and down his jawline.
"What do you mean? What did you do?" She asks in concern, turning to face him.
"Nothing." He quickly says. She looks at him, raising an eyebrow. "Really!" He exclaims.
"Okay." She says as she stands up and widens her eye, inhaling in deeply. She collected their stuff and putting it in a bag, knowing that they would have to go shopping again from the lack of clothes they owned.
