Part 3

Eventually, Lloyd left the bathroom and found Koko sitting on his bed.

"You feeling any better?" She asked as she stood up. Lloyd dropped his shoulders and looked away in embarrassment.

"Sort of," He answered quietly.

"Mm," Koko hummed in understandment. She shifted her feet. "So," Lloyd looked up at her. She crossed her arms and made a curious face. "Who gave you those love bites?" Lloyd felt his stomach drop.

"Uhhh... Love-- Love bites? I don't know anything about love bites, whywouldIknowanythingaboutlovebites?" Lloyd replied hurriedly. Koko rolled her eyes with a smile.

"Riiight, so this is what you weren't telling me." She looked behind her and sat down on Lloyd's bed, crossing her legs and leaning forward in interest. "C'mon then, 'spill the beans' or whatever you kids say,"

The uncomfortable feeling in his legs returned and he felt his face grow hot just thinking about having to tell his mum about what had happened.

He carefully and hesitantly walked over to his bed and sat down beside Koko, his hands on either side of his knees.

"Uhm... well..." He paused. "I-- Well, y'know how it is, right? You get so drunk you don't even remember it happening..." Lloyd trailed off, hoping his mum would catch what he meant, but Koko only nodded slowly, waiting for more.

Lloyd sighed shakily, looking away and hugging himself.

"Well, uhm... I, uh, kind of, may have, sort of... lost my virginity." Lloyd flinched, ready for his mum to explode.

Which she did.

"WHAT!?" She jumped up and stared at Lloyd in disbelief. Tension started to build as Koko gathered her thoughts and tears fought their way out of Lloyd's eyes.

Eventually, Lloyd couldn't keep them in and he sniffled, wiping his eyes. The sound brought back Koko to Lloyd.

"Oh, my baby..." She whispered. She sat down again, this time closer to Lloyd, and she wrapped her arm around him, pulling him into a hug. Lloyd let her and he hugged back, crying into her shoulder.

After a few moments, Lloyd managed to stop his sobs and regain control of his breathing. He slowly sat upright again. Koko looked at him with concern, love, and, well, a little bit of curiosity.

"Well honey, I... I don't know what to say. I can't really help you, can I? I mean, I can give you some paracetamol for any pain, and I can make tea for the hangover but..." Koko trailed off, looking away. Lloyd sniffled.

"I'd... I'd like some tea, yeah," He gave her a small smile. She turned and smiled too, rubbing his back.

"Out of curiosity, love..." Koko started, straightening her back. "How'd you find out? And with who did you... do it?" Koko coughed away the awkwardness but Lloyd cringed anyway.

"Uhm..." He twiddled his thumbs. Lloyd thought back to waking up in bed with Kai's arm under his head. How they had woken up at the same time. How they hadn't noticed anything at first, but then they looked down and realised the horror.

Lloyd gulped and brought his knees up to his chest. He could feel his mum getting more and more concerned.

"It... I-- Ugh..." Lloyd put his head down on his knees.

After a pause, he looked up with his eyes closed and took a deep breath. "Kai. I slept with Kai. I woke up in his bed." Lloyd said quickly.

Koko's jaw dropped. Lloyd opened his eyes a little to see her reaction. She just stared at him, her jaw still hanging open.

Eventually, she came to her senses and blinked away her shock.

"You're joking." She said. "You-- You're joking!" She half laughed, staring at him with disbelief. Lloyd could tell he was tomato red again.

He shook his head, looking down. Koko started giggling and eventually, it turned into laughter.

Lloyd felt his chest grow tight with confusion. He brought his legs back down and placed his hands on the edge of the bed. Koko took some deep breaths and shook her head.

"So, you're telling me, that you slept with Kai before you've even confessed to him?" She almost started giggling again as Lloyd drew his breath and crossed his arms, pouting and looking away, grumbling to himself.

She laughed but then she noticed Lloyd's somewhat hurt expression, and she gave him a loving smile and sighed.

"Obviously losing your, uh, virginity isn't... ideal, at your age, but... why are you so upset over it being Kai when..." Koko trailed off and Lloyd knew what she was talking about. He sighed and shifted himself in thought.

"He... While we were talking to the others about it, he said because we were drunk, it didn't mean anything..." Lloyd bit his lip. "And we also shouted at the same time that we weren't together," Koko made a face at that.

"Well ok, the first comment is somewhat... well, not true but, it's a fair thing to say after something so awkward. I wouldn't hold it against him, he's most likely feeling the exact same way as you are about all of this," Koko placed her hand on Lloyd's. "But the second comment, why were you yelling about not being together?" Koko asked jokingly. Lloyd thought back.

"It was... the same kind of comment that you like to make, about Kai and I being together, except Nya was assuming that just because of... it, we were now automatically together. And the both of us yelled out in protest," Lloyd sighed. Koko thought about that, and she gave him a puzzled look.

"So... you're upset that he yelled that you aren't together when you want to be, ok sure, but then, why did you yell it too?" Koko questioned Lloyd.

"I-- I didn't want him to feel even more embarrassed..." Lloyd trailed off, a realisation hitting him.

Koko smiled as she saw that Lloyd got what she was trying to tell him and she sighed contently. She stood up and kissed Lloyd on the head before walking over to the door. She stopped, hanging around the edge of the door frame.

"Listen, you need to talk about it with Kai. About all of it." She defined. Lloyd drew his breath as he looked up. "I know you guys will work it out." She gave him a reassuring smile and left.
