"are you okay?" asked sae so quietly she almost didn't hear it. she didn't respond, keeping her head down and letting her hair cover the sides of her face.
"it's late, you shouldn't be out here. it's dangerous," said sae as he walked closer to her sitting figure at one of the playground's swings. aiya still didn't respond, she made no movement. though, sae noticed her trembling hands laid to her sides.
"aiya, stop fucking around. get up, i'm walking you home."
silence still filled the void, it took moments for her to speak and her words came out so lowly, he almost didn't catch what she said.
"what're you doing here, sae?"
"ran into rin by accident and got into an argument, it's not a big deal," replied sae monotoned. "what are you doing here by yourself?"
aiya felt her throat closing in on her, her lungs seemed like they weren't functioning, her erratic heart beating so fucking loud and fast, and her body felt so cold and heavy to move. it took everything to finally lift her head up and look at sae.
his eyes widened at the tears the fell down her cheeks. the expression on her face was completely blank and void, the only indication of emotion on her face were the tears the endlessly streamed down.
i'd let the whole world burn and die if it meant seeing your smile again.
she was finally able to rasp out slowly some words.
"it's so hard to breathe, sae."
sae walked closer and kneeled in front of her, reaching his hand up to wipe away some of her silent tears. her expression was still void of any emotion and it scared him how empty she looked. he hoped his eyes told her how much he cared for her.
"i'm sorry."
itoshi sae hates seeing her cry.
