sae was back in spain, he had come back from another weekend in japan this month. he wanted to go back already just to see her. but he needed to focus on his football career.
he laid on his bed, his unpacked luggage long forgotten due to his tiredness. he felt his phone buzzing beside him and he figured it was just another bothersome message from his manager. the buzzing stopped until it kept buzzing again.
with a scowl, he took his phone to mute it until he saw aiya's contact picture was on his screen. she was calling him so he quickly answered the phone call.
"saeeeeeeee."
"you have ten seconds before i hang up," he scowled.
"i miss you."
he was glad she couldn't see his face soften at her words.
"you just saw me less than 24 hours ago, you're so clingy," sae replied mockingly.
aiya huffed, "i'll just call rin then."
"don't," sae said too quickly for his liking. "why'd you call?"
she sighed, "been a tiring night, do you mind if i fall asleep on call with you?"
"as long as you don't snore," sae retorted. "why with me though?"
aiya hummed before reluctantly saying, "they say you're more likely to fall asleep with someone you're comfortable with because you feel safe so you let your guard down."
why do you play with my feelings like this?
she doesn't know how much those words caused sae's heart to break and yearn.
"you're so sappy," sae bluntly said. "go to sleep right now then."
"goodnight, sae."
the line went quiet, all sae could hear was her breathing and he guessed she put her phone right next to her face. after a while, he could tell she fell asleep from how calm and in soft rhythm her breathing was.
one day, i hope you fall asleep in my arms.
itoshi sae loves their phone calls.
