"it's summer, why the hell are you wearing a jacket?"
the sun shined brightly up in the sky, the air was hot and not a single breeze was present. sae and aiya sat in a bench at a park whilst watching strangers stroll pass them.
aiya clutched her jacket tightly and huffed, "it goes with my outfit."
"you're gonna have a heat stroke."
"no, i won't."
"you are literally dripping of sweat, dumbass."
she pouted, "my outfit looks so cute though."
"you're so stubborn," scolded sae. "don't expect me to carry you when you pass out from the heat."
she lightly nudged him, "dramatic much?"
he sighed, shaking his head in disagreement. he hated himself at that moment. he wanted so badly to bring it up but the words caught up dry in his throat. he's known her for so long, yet she still thought she could hide things from him.
sae gulped nervously in hesitation, looking away to the side, "if there was something wrong, you would tell me, right?"
she snorted in amusement, "you're my best friend, of course i tell you everything."
no, you don't. you're hurting yet you won't reach out to me.
sae didn't respond, his eyes sullen and he felt weak mentally. he was good at football, good at hiding his emotions, good with his talents. but this was harder than making any goal.
he finally looked at her, glancing at her hands for a quick second that it went unnoticed by her. his chest felt weighed down and his heart felt like it was being squeezed. aiya managed to see the worry and doubt in his eyes. she smiled at him with reassurance.
"sae, i'm okay."
itoshi sae hates the red lines on her skin.
