A/N Hello!! I am experiencing the opposite of writers block, so yay! Another chapter!! As always, happy reading!
The following three weeks were a bit boring. We have been traveling around the world but not in time just yet. I turned twenty five just after we helped the kids out, and we had a party. James' birthday is tomorrow, he will be eleven. Anna had her birthday while she was in the testing facility so we had her party with mine. Jamie said our house wasn't safe anymore because they have the address, so we packed our things and abandoned it. The wedding ceremony is in a month and two weeks. I have known Jamie for about a year now and the kids hit it off when they met. My leg is also practically completely healed. I have had a few questions I would like to ask Jamie, though. After he puts the kids to bed, we sit on the couch again.
"Why did you take Hayden if I'm there in the future?" His jaw clenches. "I am in the future, right?" His expression worries me.
"Yes and no. You," He gets choked up. There goes the happiness of the evening.
"Hey, it's okay. History can be changed, right?" I try to sound hopeful. This gets a smile out of him. He leans down and kisses the top of my head.
"I suppose so," He says. I wish I could do something about it. After a while of sitting, we go to bed.
"Jamie?"
"Yeah?"
"How do I die?" This causes him to sigh.
"A war is coming, Jane. A big one. One we can't avoid. You die at age twenty eight in the war."
"At least we get three years, huh?"
"I guess so."
"And also, does that mean you're two years older than me?"
"Yes. But that's complicated."
"I see." In reality, i'm actually extremely confused.
"Goodnight, Jane."
"Goodnight."
~The night of the wedding~
"Hello, Mrs. Jane Collins!" Jamie says to me in a singsong voice.
"And hello to you, Mr. Jamie Collins." For once in a long time, I am at peace. Tomorrow, we move into our new flat, it's connected to the one below us so that Anna and James can live with us. There isn't a door to their part, so we know when they leave and can protect them.
~Three weeks later~
I stare down at the test in disbelief. Positive. This is going to freak Jamie out.
"J-Jamie?!?" I call out nervously. Hayden is downstairs in the kid's flat.
"Jane? What is it? Are you okay?" He runs up to the bathroom and looks in my hand. "Oh, God." I nervously smile. He looks so scared.
"What?"
"This didn't happen before."
"What do you mean?"
"You were out of town. You had to call and tell me. This isn't Hayden, I know it."
"What's going on?"
"You're changing history."
"So, you aren't happy?" I say shyly. So much for time.
"I am, unbelievably happy. Let's focus on that, shall we?" His normal, happy tone has returned. I smile sheepishly. "That's my girl." Suddenly, Anna comes bursting in.
"Hayden isn't breathing." She says with tears in her eyes and concern in her voice.
