Chapter 8

Hey yall! Sorry, but this is the awkward love chapter. Also, sorry it's been awhile. You know it's been bound to happen. And if you didn't, I will be blunt, you lower the IQ of the whole street.

"What?"
"You know, in the future. She's your daughter." Jamie says. I'm okay with the whole daughter thing, but I'm worried about the answer to my next question. "Who's the father?" He stops in his tracks. "Jamie?"
"You'll find out soon enough."
"I want to know. "
"I said, you'll find out soon ENOUGH!" He slams his fist on the controls. After a moment of silence, I speak.
"How old am I when she's born?" I ask quietly.
"Twenty Five." I turn 25 next week.
"Wow. "
"Twenty Five and eleven months."
"Can I see her?"
"I suppose." I walk through the door. She looks like Jamie. I can't do this. I walk to the door. "Where are you going?"
"Away. I can't do it. "
"Can't do what?"
"How old are you?"
"Thirty. Why?" He looks almost forty. I stop. "What?"
"What happened?"
"What do you mean?"
"You look so old." That's not right.
"Well, that was harsh."
"Sorry, I meant older than thirty."
"I thought you were leaving."
"I was, but I want to hear your story," I pause, "plus I still need my sister. "
"Fine." He pauses and sits down. He gestures me to sit beside him. "Someone I loved was like your sister." This is a rough start. For me, anyway.
"Was it your wife? Child?" I say nervously. Apparently my nervousness is obvious. He laughs.
"No. I've never had a wife or a child before. Don't worry. It was my brother." He says sadly.
"She isn't alone?"
"No. I'm like you, the less strong end of that gene." He goes on to say how the government tested him and how he eventually died.
"I'm so sorry. "
"I didn't want you to have my fate."
"Is that why you're helping me?"
"That and something else." My heart beats faster and faster. "Travis, you may not have known it until now, but I love you." I look him in the eyes and say softly, "And I love you."
