Your Secret's Safe With Me

Chapter 1

As I look out the window of the holding room, I think back on all that has happened within the last year.

"Can I get a new phone?" Anna asked me, "Everyone else has a smart phone and I don't."
"Anna, you know very well that we can't afford anything new. What happened changed our lives forever. You know that. I'm doing my best to keep us alive and well. I'm sorry."
" I thought maybe we could find one on the internet. "
"Maybe, but I'll keep an eye out at work. Okay?" (I worked at the Apple Store)
"Okay." She said it very solemnly. I knew she was depressed about it but it was the truth.
"Can you hand me that pen please?"I said, gesturing to a pen on the table.
"Sure," she said. Just then, the pen started shaking. We both got frightened and Anna screamed. This had happened before.
"Anna calm down! Screaming like that you'll wake up half of London!" I said.
"I'm sorry, It just happens, I can't control it. I'm so sorry. I'm going to get us in trouble," she said with tears in her eyes.
"It's okay. You'll be okay, I promise. " But I wasn't sure. If it got any worse we'd have the authorities watching us like a hawk. I didn't know how much longer I could protect her.
