I dropped off Anna at school. She seemed more distraught than she usually was. I'm 24, so I am her legal guardian since the accident. It was four years ago. Our dad decided to take my mum to a new restaurant. They were waiting to get on the underground, it hadn't arrived yet, and a stranger robbed my mum and shoved her on the track. The stranger ran away and dad jumped down to pull her up, and the train arrived.
Long story short, I've never been the same. Anna was a huge surprise, my parents were both almost fifty when she was born. She's about seven now. She was just a toddler when it happened, so she doesn't really remember them or the accident. I'm actually kind of glad. I was watching her that night. Once the police showed up to tell the news, I vowed to do two things; one, never take the underground, and two, never let her out of my sight. I haven't been able to keep my promise, and that I will continue to regret forever. I will see her again, I tell myself, I will protect my sister. Just then the guard came in.
"Your sister will be just fine. We are keeping her overnight to see how she reacts to the tests. Believe me, she is fine, but we just want to make sure. For now, you have to go home."
"Okay. "
