Chapter 23

Kuro: So... where exactly am I...?

He walks around but sees nothing except destruction. No people, no animals, nothing.

Kuro: Hello...? Anyone there...?

A silhouette of a man passes from behind Kuro as we see someone approaching Kuro.

The steps were almost unnoticeable.

The person comes closer and closer to Kuro as they put their hand on Kuro's shoulder and Kuro turns around.

???: Who are y- Wait...

We see the face of the mystery man and see... Kuro himself? But he looked... older...

Kuro 2: Wait... you... you look like me, but you're a bit younger... 

Kuro: Ok, this might sound crazy, but I'm from an-

Kuro 2: An alternate dimension...

Kuro: Yes! Wait... how'd you know?

Kuro 2: This didn't happen... then... then... is it possible...?

Kuro: Hey, come on. Help me out here. I don't understand a thing, but seems like you do.

Kuro 2: All for One...! What did you do to him?

Kuro: What did I do to him...? I killed him.

Kuro 2: That's not enough information... 

He looks around.

Kuro 2: Come with me.

Kuro hesitatingly follows his other self as they enter a room. A messy one at that.

Kuro 2: When All for One tried to control you... did you fight back or give in?

Kuro: I fought back...

Kuro 2: This makes complete sense!

Kuro 2 quickly goes to a table and swipes everything on it down on the ground and lays down a huge paper on the table and starts to sketch something on it.

He draws a long line. Then, mid-way, he starts another line. He names the original line as "This timeline" and the other as "Your timeline".

Kuro 2: Look at this. This... is the original timeline, now this-

He points at the point where the second line emerged.

Kuro 2: This, is where All for One tried to take control of you and start Project Phantom Menace. This is the Nexus Point. A point in the timeline where your decision drastically affects the timeline. 

He points at the line labelled "Your Timeline".

Kuro 2: You fought back and killed All for One. That changed the timeline completely! A new path... where you fought... and won... and saved everyone...

Kuro: Hold on... 

Kuro points at the line labelled "Current Timeline" 

Kuro: Then what happened here?

Kuro 2: ... I didn't fight back... I let the power overwhelm my state of right and wrong... I... I brought Project Phantom Menace to life... and it cost me... everything...

Kuro 2 takes a small picture out of his pocket.

The same picture that snapped Kuro out of AfO's control.
