Chapter 28

The questions were over as Kuro takes a tissue and hands it to Rei, who wipes her tears as Touya rubs her back.

Kuro: Thanks for your time, ma'am. I promise you I will bring Enji down.

Rei: No. Thank YOU. You are doing so much, just for the sake of this old woman. How can I ever repay you?

Kuro: You can repay me by being there for your children once Enji is gone.

Kuro smiles at her as he then looks at Touya.

Kuro: Touya. It's time.

The man instantly understands what Kuro meant as he takes his mother's hands into his.

Touya: Mom, I wish we had more time-

Rei: No. This was a gift. Now go and be the man you're meant to be.

Touya: I love you mom.

Rei: I love you too, son.

The two hug each other as they break the hug after a while.

Touya nods to Kuro, who nods back and opens a spot.

Touya looks back at Rei once again as he sighs and walks into the spot as we see him exit the spot in an area near a mountain, one that the man knew all too well.

Sekoto Peak.

The place, where Touya's flames grew so much that they ate him up.

The place... where Touya Todoroki died.

He uses his quirk as red flames erupt from his hands. Suddenly, he realizes that he didn't have the scars covering his arms either.

To confirm his suspicions, he walks over to a lake and looks at his reflection.

It was him... but younger... like he was back in his early teen years.

This could only mean one thing. Touya had been sent to his nexus point. The day when his flames first turned blue.

His flames were emotionally connected to him. Meaning, the stronger an emotion was inside him, the hotter the flames.

In his world, the flames turned blue due to hatred and such negative thoughts.

But not this time...

He takes a deep breath as he remembers the moments with Rei. His flames slowly come out of his left hand.

Touya puts his right hand on his cheek, feeling the warmth of her loving hands still there.

The flames start to get brighter.

In a matter of mere seconds, the flames turn into a beautiful prussian, but suddenly, he feels a burning pain on his hand as he deactivates his quirk and the flames disperse.

Pain.

This was something that Touya hadn't felt in quite a long while, due to his nervous system being damaged heavily during his "death".

A voice suddenly comes from behind him.

???: You're training again?

Touya quickly sends a big flame attack towards the source of the voice.

He sees that it was Enji.

Endeavor: Woah! Calm down! It's just me! You'll burn the forest, idiot!

He runs and grabs a bucket, fills it with water and throws it on the fire as the flames sizzle and disappear.

Endeavor: So... got anything new to show me?

Touya: Huh?

Endeavor: You said you wanted me to see you train, right? Send a flame attack away from the forest. Let's see what you got.

Confused, Touya sends a barrage of blue flame towards the lake.

Endeavor: *surprised* Woah! Your flames just now. They were blue!

Touya: Yeah, but...

He looks at his hand, which had a red burn mark now.

Endeavor walks up to Touya and looks at the burn.

Endeavor: This is quite an issue. Your flames are now hotter than normal, but that means you're more prone to burns... I got an idea! Let's go to UA. I'm sure they have something that could help.

Touya: Right...

We see Powerloader, a staff member of UA, working on something as he gets up and walks up to Endeavor and Touya.

Powerloader: Okay, so from what I've understood about your quirk, is that the flames are hotter than Endeavor's, but your body is not adaptable to the heat. Correct?

Touya nods.

Powerloader: Okay. This is what I could come up with. 

He hands Touya a pair of metal bracers and metal cuffs.

Touya: And what are these...?

Powerloader: Fire regulators. Put them on and we'll test them.

The boy complies as he puts them on and the three walk out to the grounds.

Powerloader: Now, I want you to shoot a flame attack in the air and keep increasing it's temperature.

Endeavor: But that'll burn him!

Powerloader: If my calculations are correct about his quirk and the regulators, his palm is completely resistant to the flames, since he never gets any burns on his palm and wrist. But the part above that isn't resistant to the flames. The regulators will make it so that the flames don't hit his arms. Thus, eliminating the risk of him burning his arms.

Endeavor: I see. This better work.

Powerloader: Relax. I know my inventions.

Touya sends a flame attack and starts to increase the temperature. He closes his eyes and squints them as he starts to reach the temperature where his skin starts to burn.

...

But nothing happened.

Touya slowly opens his eyes and sees the flames still going up, but his arms completely safe with the regulators emitting a shiny blue light.

Endeavor: *glad* It worked...! It worked!

He runs and hugs Touya, who was staring at the regulators, which soon turned back to dim blue soon after the flames stopped.

Touya: It worked...

He starts to laugh as tears drop from his eyes.

Touya: It worked!!!

Touya Todoroki then went along to train alongside his younger brother Shoto, who had inherited both his father's flames and his mother's ice.

In this universe, the children weren't born out of jealousy and hate towards All Might.

No.

Here, they were born out of love.

Love that Enji Todoroki and his wife shared for each other.

As I was saying, Touya continued to train alongside Shoto, got accepted in UA, and successfully became the Flame Hero: Blue Phoenix.

Blue, because his flames were a beautiful azure.

And Phoenix, because Dabi was long gone, and Touya Todoroki had risen from Dabi's ashes... like a phoenix.
