I race after Gwen in the dead of night. Her head start plus her enhanced speed made it hard to catch up. All I could see was darkness around me, as well as the city lights on the streets as cars passed by, but the only thing I could pay attention to was the blonde and short hair of the person that I sought after.

"Could you stop? Hold on!" I shouted as I narrowly dodged the people on the sidewalk, speed-walking after her. Gwen shook her head to the side, continuing to look forward with a fed up expression. "Can we just.. continue talking about this?" I throw my arms down as we travel into a desolate alley. "Gwen!" I manage to finally grab her hand as she stops, still refusing to look at me.

She keeps her head down, slowly turning around as she furrowed her eyebrows at me. "What is there to talk about?" Gwen asks in a low voice, trying to keep calm.

"I mean, you stormed out, and you also forced me to leave my own party to chase after you, so there is a lot to talk about!" I keep my hand tight around Gwen's as she fully turns her head to look at me with a large sigh. My eyes widen as I see a pained expression on her face.

"You sound just like my dad." She says with a slight tremble in her somber voice as my grip loosens around her hand, feeling heartbroken. "Go back to your party. Y/N... You don't want to uh.. keep people waiting, right?" Gwen pulls back her hand, facing away from me. "Gwen.." I gape my mouth open, leaning forward and wanting her to look at me. Her sudden and unusual calm tone makes it all the more surprising and concerning.

Gwen's face was hidden by the shadows of the sheltered alley. She quickly steps away, her shoes making a slight noise as her figure shrinks into the distance. After a few moments, I snap out of my confusion, following Gwen again out of the alley. I look around on the busy street, not seeing her anywhere.

"Gwen?" I exclaim with a quiet voice. My shoulders relax as I continue walking around, trying to find her with a worried expression. Meanwhile, Gwen sits on the edge of a building, watching over from above. She sighs as her eyes well up with tears when I disappear from her view.

After searching and scouting the area for about a half an hour, I pull out my phone, trying to call Gwen. Unsurprisingly, she doesn't pick up as it immediately going to voicemail. The message plays in the background. "Hey, it's Gwen. Leave a message, or don't." A loud beep sounds as I sigh. "Gwen, please pick up. I didn't mean for this to happen, I-I.."

I clear my throat, thinking of what to say. "Just.. um.. call me back when you can, okay?" I lower my phone, holding it in my hand as I tilt my head down.

Gwen feels her phone ringing, letting it go to voicemail as she hears me on the other end. Her face saddens as she puts her phone down, standing up as she dresses up in her spider suit and webbing her clothes onto a nearby wall. With a large sigh, she pulls down the mask in front of her face. Gwen decides to patrol around the city in order to distract her until she suddenly hears sirens wailing in the distance accompanied with multiple gunshots.

With the small radio in her pocket that she swiped from her father, Gwen hears operators on the other end, alerting them to a robbery nearby at a convenience store. Flying through the air, she rushes to the scene, landing on the ground with repose and a soft wisp. Gwen spots civilians running out of the store, screaming and shouting.

She runs into the store, seeing a group of thieves ransacking the store and its goods. They have brown bags that they carry over their shoulders as they hurry each other. "Ahem." Gwen coughs, catching their attention. The cashier working on the night shift is down on the ground, shaking uncontrollably. With the register open and the cash gone, Gwen looks back at the robbers.
