After the talk with Dante, Giuseppe forced Regenia to his bedroom for some rest. Only Regenia couldn't sleep. Berardo and how he managed to live after what she had done was the only thing on her mind. Visions of the man flooded her mind, all the things he had done to her over the two months she was in his so-called care. He claimed he could treat her much better than Giuseppe, but Berardo only showed her hell. It wasn't like Regenia wanted to be there anyhow. The lunatic held her against her will and thought she should obey him. She was living in hell the whole time, and only one person would help. Now, Regenia was stuck with the nightmares and Berardo ugly face haunting her mind.
FLASHBACK
"You did well today," Giuseppe spoke as Regenia looked up at him with a small smile. "Then why do I feel like I fail at something? It seemed too easy to be true— I know it's all in my head. I don't have any reason not to trust Jacob or Enzo, but I think... if you were Berardo, what would you do next?" She asked as she and Giuseppe walked into one of New York's biggest restaurants. He stopped swiftly and looked around, something was off, and Regenia felt it too. It was the middle of the day, and the restaurant was empty.
"SHIT, REGENIA, RUN NOW!" But before she could turn, something flashed before her after everything when black. Something or someone had hit her over the head. The shit hurt like hell, but Genia was sure it wasn't anything too serious until she woke in a dark room... no, a truck or a car. Her hands were tied behind her back, and she could hear faint talking from someone in the backseat.
Immediately her heart hammered through her chest as she started to shift in the small truck kicking and screaming. "No, no, no! This can't be. LET ME OUT, ASSHOLE! I KNOW THIS; IT'S YOU, BERARDO!" She screamed, but her voice went unheard. Instead, whoever was driving turned up the music and sped up, but Regenia wasn't a quitter. She continued to kick and scream, hoping one of the passing cars would hear her. Although something in Regenia told her Berardo's cars were like Giuseppe's... soundproof, she was only using up her oxygen, causing her to give up and close her eyes.
The best thing she could do was rest and think of her next plan, and sometime later, the car came to a stop. Again, her heart started to hammer, thinking what she would do when the truck opened... if it opened. Berardo wasn't going to kill her. At least didn't think he would. Everyone claimed he was doing this to get Giuseppe to hand over the mafia. Maybe they were right, but she wasn't going to wait and find out. Genia would fight herself out of this mess or kill the bastard who had her because she wasn't ready to die.
So, she waited.
Regenia waited for the truck to open and for the right moment to make her escape. She allowed the men to open the truck and pulled her out. Then they made the biggest mistake... cutting the bounds that held her hands together. Quickly Regenia grabbed the first thing she saw, which was the wrench, hitting both men in the head and running. She had no idea where she was, but she knew it was a lot of trees and nothing else for miles. Regenia's main focus was finding a house and calling for help, but her plan failed quickly.
