Regenia woke up early this morning since she planned to see Giovanni one last time before his funeral. She was saddened about his death and didn't know how to take it. Gio was a happy man, and she was carrying his grandchild. He was the main person hoping they would have a girl... his wish came true, but all her daughter would have of him was her father's memories. Sadly it was the same with her father. Jake always talked about becoming a grandfather but didn't live long enough to see it. Maybe it was wrong of Regenia to wait to have sex, but she refused to be like everyone else. However, their daughter would know of her grandfathers, but Genia needed one last talk with Giovanni before they started his service.
Quietly she walked into the morgue where the man was getting Giovanni ready for his family to see him one last time. With a deep breath, she walked beside Tim touching his shoulder as the man quickly bowed and stepped to the side. "I hope he's to your liking, Donna," Tim spoke while Regenia looked over her father-in-law's body with a deep sigh. It was heartbreaking, but she held it together, brushing her fingertips lightly across his hand and kissing his forehead. Giovanni was well-dressed in his Amari suit, which wasn't a surprise; he loved them. He also had his favorite gold cufflinks on with all his children's initials, favorite gold watch, wedding, and Don ring, along with his cross he never removed.
"He's perfect; Mamma Caterina would agree. I can't believe he's gone. A few days ago, he was full of joy and happy he was about to get another granddaughter. I'll never understand how quickly our loved ones leave this earth."
"His purpose was completed. Everything he needed to do was done... It was time for him to return home, Donna. A wise person once told me we are messengers, and once our message is clear, we'll return home to be with the Lord." He spoke as Regenia turned to the man with a confused looked. He was clearly Italian, but his words sounded like something her grandmother would say, which caused her to nod and smile.
"Maybe you're right, and you did a wonderful job on him—"
"Indeed, he did. It looks as if my Zio is sleeping... wouldn't you say the same, Bella?" Regenia's heart stopped momentarily as she slowly turned to the last person she wanted to see. Why was he there? Giuseppe said no blood would be spilled the day of his father's funeral or the following week. Then why was Berardo making his presence known to her? The first thing Giuseppe should have told him was to stay the hell away from her, but here he was.
"What are you doing here, Berardo?"
"Viewing my Zio's body... oh, did my sweet Bella think I was stalking her. I think it's better to let Giuseppe have you. You two are a perfect fit." He spoke as his eyes wandered up and down her body until he suddenly stopped looking at her baby bump. "That's something I missed... Hmm, I wondered why you were so protective of your stomach. I should've kicked you in it. Although I don't get off killing innocent children. Consider yourself lucky— if you're wondering, I didn't come looking for you. I came here to honor my Zio, and for now, I will take my leave but hear my words. I'm coming for you and your bitch as a husband with everything I got. The Romano Mafia will be mine. Giuseppe may have won this time, but I'll be the one in the lead the next."
