In over my head

Since it was going to be too hard to try and sneak my car out of the garage without alerting the house to my departure I decided that quietly leaving and then catching a bus would be easier.
So with that in mind I opened up my window and began climbing out of and down the side of the house via the down pipe. Just as my head was about to disappear below the windowsill I heard a small voice calling my name, "Bryn."
Glancing down at my watch and noticing the time I groaned to myself, I was going to be late. I climbed up just enough so that I could see over to the person that had called out to me.
Squinting into the darkness of my bedroom I thought that I recognised the shape as that of my next door neighbour of sorts. "Bec?" I whispered, she was in the room across the hallway from me.
The now familiar shape nodded her head wildly up and down, she then quickly glanced back over her shoulder. "What do you want?" I asked, "I have to go or I'll be late."
"Where are you going?" Bec asked creeping closer to the window. "I have to go meet someone, it is important" I said fast as I started lowering myself down again hoping that she would get the hint.
"But, but thats against the rules," she stuttered, pulling myself up one more time I steeled my gaze and looked at her as she shrunk away from me slightly "and they won't know I was ever out if you don't speak a word" I returned.
She nodded again fervently and crept, mouse-like out of my room. Shaking my head slowly I began my descent down again.

Once I hit the ground at the bottom I snuck around the corner and silently climbed over the fence surrounding the property and began making my way to the road where I would catch my bus.
I guess it just wasn't my night, because as I reached the bus stop it started to rain. There was no shelter and so I stood there, my shoulder length brown hair getting drenched and sticking to my face.
Not ten minutes later I saw the bus coming over the rise, its headlights cutting through the rain, making every single drop visible.
At first I thought that he hadn't seen me hail him but then at the last minute I heard the squeal of the brakes being applied as the bus almost skidded to a stop next to me.
I say he without seeing the driver simply because I could tell from the terrible and arrogant way he was driving. There was a squeal as the door swung open and the side of the bus was tilted down towards me.
Scrounging around in my pocket full of water, I managed to locate three coins which I fished out and dumped on the bench type thing in front of the driver, along with a handful of water.
He scrunched his nose up and looked at me with disgust, "bit wet out there" I stated simply and trudged down the aisle and grabbed a double seat from myself.

As we approached my school I peered through the window, looking for any sign of the gang members. I had pressed the button a minute earlier and was waiting for my stop to come up as I wasn't sure where exactly it was.
Just around the corner I could see the yellow stop illuminated by the lights on the bus, I saw a flicker of red to the side as the driver put on the brakes.
Taking that as my cue, I stood up and began walking to the front of the bus. Luckily, during my stint on the bus I had dried off a fair bit and was able to wave goodbye without showering him with drops of water.
