Chase

-Hi guys!- My mom excitedly says, standing up from the table as they were all already sat.
Like always, we were late.

-Hi!- Maddie says, giving her a quick hug and sitting down in one of the two free chairs, the one that was next to Pressley.

I help her with the chair and I sit down between her and a big window with views to one of the beaches.

Nevertheless, as amazing as the views were, I couldn't stop staring at her, she looked so naturally beautiful that it seemed unbelievable for someone to be so gorgeous.
Her rosy lips where shining as her long lashes made here eyes' shape more foxy, something I loved, and, even more when they narrowed as she smiled.

Some of the freckles that showed up when she sunbathed covered her rose cheeks, which had gotten a bit burned, giving her a beach look I had fallen in love into.
And her body, oh her body, this long dress remarked her curves, making it a need for me for our bodies to be glued together, I needed her, I wanted her.

-Right Chase?- Evan says, which makes me forget my previous thoughts as I try to follow up the conversation they were having.

-They are talking about who is the best hockey player- Mads whispers, as she noticed that I was a bit lost.

-No, I'm the best one- I tell Evan which makes him roll his eyes as Maddie and Presley chuckled.

Evan and Griffin begin talking about which team they thought would win as I redirect all my attention back to Madelyn, who was staring at me now.

I get closer to her as I whisper into her ear- You have no idea how gorgeous you are looking- which makes her blush immediately, something that would happen every time I complimented her.
I loved watching the effect I had on her.

-Well- she says not looking at me- I have an idea since you haven't said anything else but that to me lately- she giggles, which makes me playfully hit her arm as one of my hands rests on her leg.

We spot the waiter coming closer which makes us all go silent, as we wait for him to arrive.

-Hello, what would you like to drink?- he nicely asks, while getting his notepad out.

-Do you all want wine?- My mom asks us as we nod, except from Evan who could not drink, as he needed to be perfect for tomorrow.

-So a couple of bottles of wine and a glass of lemonade please- My mom says smiling as the waiter nodded and asked- do you have any idea of what you would like to eat now?
My mom shook her head- we'll tell you in a couple of minutes, sorry.

-It's fine don't worry- the waiter says as he leaved, not before placing a big bottle of water in the middle of the table.

-What are you going to order?- Maddie asks Pressley as she desperately looked over the menu. She would always be really insecure about what food to order when being in front of my family.
She never wanted to do too much or too less, which I had already repeated to her that it was completely alright, they would never judge her.

I rub up and down her leg, so that she would remember that it was fine.
This makes her look at me with a small smile as I mouth her- It's fine.

-I have no idea- Pressley answers her- maybe some shellfish?- she says doubting, while looking at Evan, who laughed a little.

-I think we could order some varieties of shellfish and maybe some salad so that we can all share- I finally say, as I was growing hungrier and no one was saying anything.

-Look at Chase! Doing smart things for the family!- Griffin mocks, earning a dead stare from me but a chuckle from everyone else, even Maddie.

-You are supposed to support me- I whisper as she giggles, laughing with everyone else.

I roll my eyes as I call the waiter, making everyone shut up immediately.

-We would like two bigs dishes of shellfish and three mediterranean salads please- I say as he writes it down.

-Would you like to choose which kind of shellfish you want or would you just like a variety of them?- he asks, while everyone looks at me.

-Oh...erm, the variety one it's fine- I say as the waiter nods and leaves.

-So- my mom starts saying- do you two know when the show will come out?- she asks with a big smile as the rest of them nods, me and maddie looking at each other.

-Sooner thank you think- Maddie nervously says with a smile as everyone groans dramatically.

-We can't tell you! but we are soon starting with press and interviews and photoshoots and all that stuff- I say.

-And what are you going to say when they ask you about you two?- Evan asks curiously, while lying one of his arms in Pressley's back.

-I don't think they'll ask about that, they barely know us- I tell them as Maddie nods.

-Trust me, they'll definitely stalk you on your social media to try and find anything that could give them a big and popular headline- Pressley explains.

-Oh right honey, you majored in journalism didnt you?- my mom asks her, as she takes some sips of water.

Pressley proudly nods- yes, I'm having my internahip now in a big enterprise so I'm very excited about it!

-That's great!- Maddie says as I tuck some of her hair behind her ear, softly stroking her cheek.

-Yes, she was the best in her class, she had so many enterprises rooting for her as soon as she graduated- Evan says, making her blush.

-He's just exaggerating- she says while rolling her eyes.

-I'm sure he isn't- my mom says widely smiling. I think she liked Maddie and Pressley more than us.

Soon after, some waiters come to our table, placing everything we ordered down while formally serving us some wine.

-I would like to make a toast- Evan says as he gets up a little as we all smile- so that we can continue doing small trips like this with our loved ones- he says- and hopefully next time Griffin can find himself a girl.

-You just ruined it- Griffin says as we all made the toast and laughed together.

As we take a sip of the wine Maddie lies her head on my shoulder, me giving her a small kiss into her forehead as she smiled.

Minutes go by and we start eating the food which was delicious while talking about everything.
I stare at Maddie every now and then, seeing how lucky I was to even have her sitting right next to me but also thinking about everything she had gone through and still a smile was plastered on her face while talking with my family, the family from the boy that hurt her so bad, the family from the boy that betrayed her and that didn't appreciated enough.
If I didn't screw up, I think to myself, we would be dating for over than three months now, we could be dating for half a year when the show aired and we could possibly be thinking about living together.

But of course I had to be an asshole with her and make her suffer.

There won't be anything in life that I regretted more than that. But there's nothing that I could do about it now.
I still couldn't believe that she gave me another opportunity, another one.

And more knowing this was not my second one, I wish.
I already hurt her when I was with Xio and decided to stay with her while I clearly knew about her feelings.
This was my third opportunity and, sometimes I would look at her and reflect about what if she deserved someone better?
Someone that wouldn't hurt her over and over again.

-Hey- she says softly, kicking my leg with one of her heels- you okay? you've been real quiet tonight- she says, while eating some salad.

I nod my head- yes- I lie- I'm just tired.

She didn't seem really convinced with that so she just nods while rubbing my leg.
I could not screw this up, not again.
