"Umm...congrats?" I managed to say but more of a question than an enthusiastic hoorah.

She giggled with joy. "I didn't expect for him to ask me," she started fanning herself with her hand. "What should I do? What do I wear?" She asked frantically.

"How about tell me when this date is going to happen." I said, trying to be as helpful to my cousin as possible even though it hurts for me to accept this.

She started playing with her fingers nervously. "Okay, um...this Saturday." She said slowly.

I nodded. "Did he tell you where he's going to take you?"

She shook her head. I mimicked her actions, of course he wouldn't tell her, that's the most clichè thing that a guy would do on a first date. "Then where something comfortable." I suggested.

"What if we go to somewhere fancy?" She asked.

"Then a bit more on the semi-formal side." I shrugged.

"What if he brings me to a more rough date? Like a paintball field."

"Bring extra clothes then."

"What if-"

"Fuck shit Hailey, enough with the 'what if's," I snapped then calmed down a bit. "Just wear something comfortable and nice." I reassured her. "Surely if Dylan would take you to some five-star dining, he would have given you a heads-up."

She nodded and sighed. "We better get ready for school." She reminded.

My eyes widened as I looked at the clock, shit! Ten minutes left before the first bell! I mentally screamed and dashed towards the bathroom.

"I heard you're taking Hailey on a date." I wiggled my eyebrows at Dylan.

He looked down at the calculus book on his lap. "Yeah, well I guess I had to ask her sometime right?" He looked up and grinned.

I nudged his shoulder. "Look at the bright side, she was thrilled when you asked her."

He chuckled. "That's one thing to keep my hopes up." He mumbled as he scribbled something in his book.

I frowned. "What's wrong? You don't seem so thrilled about it." I pointed out.

He suddenly looked up and shook his head. "I-It's not that, it's just..." he trailed off.

I raised an eyebrow. "Just what?"

Somehing flashed across his eyes as he pressed his mouth into a thin line. "Just..." he looked back down at his book. "Nothing," he finished off.

I sighed and decided to not push it even though I wanted to know what he's thinking so badly. "Any idea where to take her then?"

He nodded but didn't bother looking up from his book. "It's a surprise, so don't expect me to tell you anything."

I looked back at the principal who was asleep by the desk in front, Dylan and I are the only people at detention and not twenty minutes into the punishment, the principal fell asleep on us. We decided to get started on our tutoring if but technically Dylan is the only one answering his book since I'm too busy bombarding him with questions.

"But-"

Dylan turned my head towards the book on my desk. "Do your homework, I don't have time to answer your damn questions." He grumbled.

I gave a sideways glare at him as I picked up my pen. What crawled up his ass and died? I thought bitterly as I read the first problem.
