I lie down on my bed, still thinking what to get for Dylan. It ain't so easy when all I cant think about is the way his laugh is music to my ears and as cliché as it sounds, and his smile that is really contagious once you look at him.

I didn't have to worry about me being grounded anymore since it'll be lifted once it reaches the date of Dylan's party, because my mom decided to pity me and reduce the grounding to two weeks, luckily, dad agreed. My grounding will be lifted next Friday and his party will be on Saturday.

Currently I have two problems, one, I haven't decided on what I'm going to give to Dylan and two, I'm grounded till next week so I can't exactly go out to the mall and look for the present.

Basically, if problem two is not solved then I can't solve problem one.

The door of my room flung open and walked in a very tired Hailey.

"Thank God we're finally done." She collapse on the soft rug together with her bag.

"Done with what?" I asked, rolling onto my stomach so I can see her.

"Our history project, at least now, we don't have to worry about it, no more rushing." She grinned, she went to a friend's house after school.

"We finished ours two days ago, El got better form her cold so we suggested to go back on Sunday then we're done, it's due next week anyway."

"Speaking of next week, Dylan's party is next Saturday, have you thought of what to give him?" She asked getting up from the floor.

I shook my head. "Not yet, I have to go to the mall to actually find the gift."

"Oh yeah, you're grounded." She frowned and sat on her bed.

I rolled around and sat up then faced Hailey. "How about you?"

"What about me?"

"What's your present for Dylan?" I asked.

She shrugged. "I was hoping to go to the mall with you since it's still 5. But I forgot that you're grounded so...yeah.'

After a few seconds she perked up and grinned at me. "Your parents are nicer than mine so we could just tell them that your buying a gift for a friend which is really important."

I raised my eyebrow at her. "Seriously? That's what your going with? Honesty?"

She placed her hands on her hips. "Well sorry for trying to help you and for being a great a great cousin."

I chuckled. "I was kidding but seriously, what I meant was that maybe it might work, maybe it won't." I got up from the bed and grabbed a book from the shelf.

Hailey rolled her eyes and walked out of the room as I turned to the page with the bookmark.

"'The daily training continued, and now it always included pain. The agony of the fractured leg began to seem more than a mild discomfort as The Giver firmly, little by little, into the deep and terrible suffering of the past. Each time in his kind--'"

"Get your butt off the bed cuz, we're going to the mall." Hailey announced walking into the room.

~*~*~*~*~

Here's what happened while I was reading my book a while ago.

Turns out, Hailey just waltzed in the living room and asked mom and dad if we could go to the mall together. Mom and Dad were about to object until she explained that it is really important and we'll be back before four hours since I needed to and I quote 'make new friends' because it the birthday of someone 'I-want-to-be-be-friends-with'.
