A knock came at our door and I sat up from my lying position. El shut down her laptop. "It's open." She called just as she pushed the off button.
Mr. Lewis' head poked from the gap. "It's dinner, come on."
I climbed out of the bed and thought of how I'm gonna avoid Dylan. But with this weekend, I don't think that's possible. And even if I do avoid him, he'll start to wonder what he did wrong which was nothing and he'll keep bugging me till he manages to get the answer out of me. If there's one crucial thing that I've learned from Dylan, is that he's very persistent.
"What's on your mind?" El looked at me worriedly.
"Wha- what, what's on my mind?" I tried to restrain myself from stuttering but failed in the end.
"You guys have been spacing out a lot lately..." El trailed off.
"I haven't been- wait 'you guys'?" I quoted.
"Yeah, you and Hailey, you guys have been spacing out a lot, and if I mean a lot, I mean a lot." El said as she stood up and headed towards the door.
"Well, I'm sorry. Guess what, I'll make it up to you, girl talk and our two favorite men in the world--Ben and Jerry." I grinned.
"You brought Ben and Jerry's? Oh my gosh you're the best!" El hugged me and happily skipped down the stairs. I rolled my eyes at how fast it is to make her happy.
Tyler was waiting for us at the foot of the stairs. "Come on slowpokes, everybody's waiting for you guys." He said, gesturing us to hurry up and walked towards the front door.
"Impatient much?" Elena mumbled as we walked out of the house. Everybody was waiting for us, Tyler wasn't exaggerating. They were standing by the lake when we approached them.
Mr. Lewis thrust out a long pole from behind his back and hnded it to me. I looked at it. "A fishing pole?"
He nodded and handed another one to El. "Since it's your first time here and we'll only be staying till tomorrow morning, I decided to let all of you fish our dinner, just to try it out for once."
"I don't even know how to fish." El said, examining the fishing pole.
Mrs. Lewis looked at the lake as she spoke. "You don't really need lessons on fishing, just do as how other people do it. You just cast the line and sit on the dock to wait for the fish. It doesn't take long to fish since there are plenty of fish in the lake, you'll be able to catch one in matter of minutes."
"It's pretty fun actually," Matt said who was sitting at the edge of the dock. "It's not as sloppy as you girls think. There are some pretty big fishes too."
Hailey walked up beside me, she was also holding a fishing pole. "Let's give it a try." She shrugged.
Soon, we were all sitting on the side of the lake except for Mr. and Mrs. Lewis who was on the side preparing the barbecue. I sat between Hailey and Axel as I watched the fishes nibble on the fishy food provided as bait--thank god it's not worms. I waited for one of the fishes to be greedy and gobble the whole dang thing up.
"Why can't one of the fishes be dumb enough to grab the entire thing, I mean at least they get to eat a lot instead of nibbling on the bait like a cookie." Axel said as he concentrated on the fishes.
Tyler jerked up as he looked at the end of his line. "What the--hey! Holy sh--"
"Tyler, language!" Mrs. Lewis scolded from a distance. Tyler pulled on his line and the water splashed in all directions, splashing on all of us as a fish sprung out of the water. I stared in amusement as the fish wiggled on the line.
