The successor : warrior of north

Chapter 5

                     ZANDER

The queen stepped into the centre of the hall. Two guards were holding a cage covered with a red cloth. The guards put it beside the queen. The queen started by greeting everyone. She had some reports that must be shown to the Arrdivians. Finally it was the long awaited moment. The announcement of the new ruler. Decendents of the queen were sitting right infront of her. She took a moment to and take a deep breath. She knew this conversation was not gonna end well. Bernard was so confident that he will be the ruler. His companions were already preparing for a feast for him. The queen said, " As you all know the crown is not something that is won by the Lamont family. It was given to them as the potent ruler was born into this family. But now there is no such ruler in this family ". Everyone was silent. Bernard was furious and began to shout at his own mother the queen itself. " One more word from that filthy mouth of yours, I'm gonna sentence you to death. I won't even give you a consideration as my son." Bernard had to sit quiet. He knew that the queen will never go back on her word. He can only become a ruler if he is alive.
                 The queen continued, " My good men, Let me begin with the history of Arrdiva. Arrdiva is not a place's name , it was a young women's name. She was a strong lady considered as a warrior. She built her own house in the forest. One day on her way back from hunting, she heard the tribes of the forest. They were under attack of the neighbouring villages. They took the unique and precious things from the tribes. She fought against them and some strong people from the tribes acted as her soldiers. From that day onwards she was considered as a leader of the tribe. This place was named after her. They began to build their house around her place. The tribal community grew into a village to state to a big country. She married a prince from another country, He left his country for her. But he took his all belongings to Arrdiva. They built buildings and modified the country by that. But Arrdiva's descendents lost the power to rule over the country. It was given to Yearwood family to Thornhill family to Lamont family. There is a rule in this nation that anyone capable of being a king can selected as a King/queen even if they were not from the royal family or the ruling family. "
                 As she stopped there was a silent. Francis El Lamont broke the silence by asking ," How will we know who is the real ruler?". The queen signaled her guards to reveal the thing in the cage. As they removed the red cloth, there was a box which was beautifully carved from a tree inside the cage. The box was open and it contained a Liliac colour stone. It looked so expensive. " It is the legendary heirloom " she continued, " When Arrdiva saved the tribe from the village people , she unknowingly saved the people from Berkins. They were known as witches. They gifted their lifesaver a stone in a box. It was Liliac in colour. It shines a blue light when true ruler touches it or give a signal when the ruler is passing by it. I know it sounds crazy. But it is the truth. Upto this day only the previous ruler and the newly selected ruler will know about the stone. But I think it's time to reveal it. Because I already lost my two sons I can't see one more. I'm also a mother. If someone else other than the true ruler takes over this place, then it will definitely perish. Arrdiva will be destroyed".
                 Bernard stood up and said," I think my mother,  the queen has some memory issues but her imagination is working well ". The queen took a deep breath again and said , " I am not implying anything. There are elders here who can confirm that Berkins once lived and they were the powerful witches" . The elders supported her and some of them even offered evidences. Still Bernard asked for a chance for him to rule. But more than 70% of the people in the conference disagreed to it. They didn't wanna experiment on their life. Bernard was speechless. Queen looked at him and said, " Bernard my dear son, let me say something. I have no memory issues, I think you are the one who have that . Don't you remember I have five sons. The youngest son of the Lamont family left home at the age of 23. The most intelligent and strong among  the four of you. Did you all forgot your brother ? FLOYD EL LAMONT"....
